Just my luck, a rock hit my windshield and put a large crack in it so now I have to have it replaced. I'm really bumbed, I hate having to get my car worked on.

My question is, who's had thier windshield replaced? Could you tell it was replaced? Did all the molding around the window fit just like it did from the factory? Also, what about registration and inspection stickers? And one more thing, how about the review mirror, any problems with that on the replacement windshield?

Sorry for all the questions, just don't want my baby to look any different than it came from the factory.

Igot mine replaced, payed $280 after my cf hood incident.
everything looks perfect, there's a little bit of that black gunk that's not *perfect* inside if you're looking around, but all in all, it doesn't look different.

Mine didn't have any stickers, and the rearview fit back on the new one just fine

I've had mine replaced once and the current one repaired for a small chip. The new window looks exactly like the old window. No stickers on my old window so can't comment on that. Rearview mirror is just like before.

Hey Phil, how much did that cost you?

Nothing, insurance covered the whole thing. Depending on your insurance coverage glass is often covered without a deducatable or with a $50 deductable. I THINK the bill would have been somewhere around $280 from AmeriGlass who came out to my work and replaced the window here for me over my lunch break. After the job was done you literally could not tell that it was a new window except it no longer had the nasty crack from top to bottom the one they took out had. All of the trim looked just like it did stock.

Thanks CericaRuss and Phil, I'm starting to feel a little better about this. I'm having Safelite come to my job on Monday to replace it. I still don't know what my insurance is going to cover, I'll find that out on Monday.

Let me put it this way..

After I had my rear-ender with that crazy chica in the cherokee....I had to have my entire rear end hatch back replaced.

It looks exactly the same as before I bought it, minus the fact that they screwed up my locking mechanism.

I wouldn't worry too much, you might be able to pick up one of those nice pre-tinted ones too...but it might cost a bit more...those are nice.

Pre-tinted, sweet. Thanks man, I would have never thought about that.

Just finished getting the new windshield installed. It came out perfect, can't tell at all. He was even able to salvage my registration and inspection sticker.

No more bad dreams about a crack in my windshield. LOL
