Hey whats up, i joined because im thinking about buying a 2002 GTS for a daily driver/work/errand car. My beater 86 Firebird died and i dont wanna drive my GN every where so im considering a celica. first off how is the reliability of these cars, are they easy to modify, are celica's notorious for anything inparticular, are the GTS 5 or 6 speed, and finally im all about speed (as u can see with my other cars) and will the GTS be able to give it to me?
Thanks for helping with the questions, if all sounds good then im gonna definetly pick one up...

The GT-S can get into mid to low 14's with intake and exhaust. Currently the 02 is hampered by a premature rev limiter at 7500 however, it has been beaten and is fixable so that you can again rev to 8300/8400 rev limiter like the 00/01.
GT-S can sadly be had in an auto, or a 6 speed.
GT can be had in an auto or a 5 speed.
Reliability as far as I'm concerned (and Consumer Reports) is top notch.
But for a daily driver/errand car........ i dunno. I"m more serious about my car than that.... by a long shot.

celica is a good choice for overall fun... it'll give you good acceleration, awesome braking and cornering, very comfy, efficient (gas wise) and can haul quiet a bit.

Buy this car if you are looking for sometying stylish and extremely fun to drive. Buy it if you are looking for something that is fast, sporty, and still gets great gas mileage. Get a celica if you do not necessarily need the biggest most usable backseat in the world. Definitely get a celica if you are not that into needing a huge aftermarket. Get it because you enjoy it for what it is. I personally love mine. If you are one of those types who needs to drop an extra 5k into it to make it more than it is, you might be dissapointed. There are some really great cosmetic stuff out there, some intake and exhaust options but not a whole lot more.
Sincerely
Steve
