Ok, so some of you may have seen my other thread about the sound system im going to be getting.. but seems like spikedcola is the only one to reply in there.. but i have a question for those of you running high power sound systems..
What is the ideal place to run 1/0 power wire? And how much do you think ill need to make it to the backseat.. i was thinking like 20 feet or less right?

12 to 15ft should be enough to make it to the trunk assuming your going to run down the same side you drill out on. be sure to run your signal cables far away from that wire.

do i have to drill through the firewall for 1/0 cable?if so whats a good spot to do that? and im talking like.. what is a good place cuz i know under the door wont work for 1/0... so any ideas? somebody told me under the carpet next to the door sill

If under the plastics doesn't work, try like you said, under the carpet. That's of course a more intricate method to hide your stuff...
And if you're taking out the backseat, perhaps through (under) the center console is a route you could take... just need to keep a distance from those signal cables.

well im not taking out the back seat.. but my fuse block is going to be directly in the middle behind the backseat.. (or a lil to one side or the other. but somewhere in the middle (for amps on both sides)
also how big of a distance you think? cuz the RCA's come right from my headunit and hang down the passenger side.
Also is there any type of RCA cable splitter thing? where i run 1 rca from the headunit and i can plug 2 rca cables into that?

Are you worrying about the thickness of the RCAs? Just buy some twisted RCAs from Rockford Fosgate... really thin and shielded well.
I dunno, I'd keep a foot or so off of it.

you can get a pretty big hole around where the throttle cable goes out. make sure you triple check before you drill and use silicone to seal it.

If you actually NEED 1/0 gauge wiring in a celica I hope to hell that you do take out the seats to sound deaded the entire back half of the car.
What are you putting in there?

i ran 0 gauge wire through the boot near the steering column that surrounds all the wires in the main harness, be VERY careful when going through that boot so you dont cut anything in the harness. if you want rca cables that can run a 4ch and a sub amp do an ebay search for 6ch rca cables, one actual cable with enough ends to run sound to all your amps. as suggested if you are doing a system big enough to justify using that thick of wire i would also recommend a lot of sound deadening as well especially while you have the car torn apart anyway
good luck with the install

Yup, there's a grommet in the firewall above the gas pedal, you can fit 1/0 through there.
Run the 1/0 down the driver's side of the car, under the door sill and all the way back to where youre going to have your block. Run the rca's from the deck down the passenger side, to the amps, trying to keep them away from the power wire as much as possible.

so 1/0 will run under the plastic on the door sill?? But im running 1/0 and im running 2 10w7's and a 1000/1 with some other speaker amps.

It should, yeah. Im running 1/0 down my door sills too eventually, so if I do it before you do Ill let you know.

alright cool thanks. But so atleast a foot apart from signal wires will be fine? good.

Dont worry about them crossing or coming close when its all hooked up, just dont run the signal line on top of the power line is all im saying :)

alright good. haha dont wont any interference when im trying to show up all the douches that think they have a good system when their car rattles.

also, where do you guys run the power wire under your dash? like with mine (4 gauge) i ran it through the firewall, up to the metal cross bar.. or something around there.. tied it off there.. and ran it back down the side to the door sill plastic.. like this place is an arm lengths up there.. its hard to get to with the dash.. so if anybody could help me find a better place to run it it would be great.

I ran mine under the carpet, but I have a feeling Ill need to choose a new place with the 1/0. Probably end up taking the plastic panels off and tying it to a metal crossbar like you said.
There's also a grommet where the hood release cable enters.

Heh, with two W7s, I don't think you'll need to be worrying about beating the competition...
I don't think I'd go that all out though... probably something more like Eclipse 6200s... It helps that I get insane discounts from my job. :). $51 each... hells yeah.

Do you have a picture of this location?
And the reason im going with 10w7's is because 1) they hit really hard and i love bass, but it has to be proportioned with speakers, my alpines im getting.
2) because they are THE hardest hitting subs on the market in 10" at this time.
3) Braggin rights, and to blow comp out of the water :wiggle:

Youre buying JLs to blow the comp out of the water? Bad choice. While the W7's are comp subs, they wont be winning any DB drags. I chose the w6v2's over the w7's because they sound better, and in most cases are nearly as loud. But to be honest, the w7's are some of the most badass subs Ive seen. When you see them in person, you just go "wow".

^haha im not talking comp like as in a professional sound off like you see on youtube. im talking about the dumbass kids that roll around here.. with there one 15" sub thinking they have a good sound system because their car sounds like change in a tin can.. infact i have one right across the street that has a friend come over ... so 2 within 20 feet of me. Just to show up the local kids.
Plus i've always liked them and heard they are good for bass when hooked up with good speakers.

bump, i need a picture or general location of where the hood release cable goes through the firewall.

Easier way = bend over and look under your dash :P
Easier way = bend over
It is above the driver's side kick panel.
