how much will it be for the cost every year just to take care a turbo kit ?
u will get more power but u will lose more money than now
to be prepared when the engine or some other part is blow out / break in the future

or better get another fast car?
i don't mind spend $3000 for the kit, but .... how much will cost me in the future?
you will be happy when u drive it fast, but it will hurt u more if something happen to the car
so .... what do you think?
is it worth the money?

In order to have a successfull long lasting turbo kit you have to look at the engine itself. With the Celica you are turbocharging a naturally aspirated car. Internals are the way to keep the engine from dieing. Rods and lower compression pistons will save you in the end. Also, note that we have an open deck engine so running extremely high amount of boost (over a bar) would cause the pistons and the chambers to dance around and eventually break. Do internal mods, keep it under 14.5psi, and make sure you get a turbo timer and oil changes frequently and you should be able to enjoy the turbo for a long time.

i heard that our engine could hold a turbo w/ haing and engine work done at all. i am gonna save for a turbo, so when it comes out i can purchase it. (what all internals have to be upgraded for the turbo?

Well, for some of us GT guys, a turbo is the best solution. If I were to run somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 to 8 psi, I could use stock internals, so long as I had my car maintained well (and I already do that now). Am I right?

i dont think anything will happen to ur engine for a long time if u boost 6psi only.

yeah, that...

why waste all your cash on some stupid 7 psi setup, just get a car for like 10 grand that already has a turbo in it, it's not that hard to find!!

Ok larry here I go again LOL!!!

OUR ENGINES CAN ONLY HANDLE ABOUT 14 PSI BEFORE THE RODS BREAK. WE HAVE 10:1 COMPRESSION RATIO SO IN ORDER TO GET AN EFFECTIVE LONG LASTING TURBO 9:1 OR UNDER PISTONS WOULD BE GOOD. ALSO, IF YOU WANT TO RUN LETS SAY 10-12PSI GETTING RODS WOULD BE A MUST. YOU DON'T NEED THEM BUT THIS ENGINE ISN'T PROVEN SO I MYSELF AM NOT GOING TO RISK SCREWING IT UP WHEN THERE ARE PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX IT

Man i need to record myself LOL.

Also, I think this car @ 10psi would be amazingly fast!!! 250fwhp on a 2400lbs car WOW!

Now if we only had a turbo kit that came with rods and pistons i would be sooooooooooooo very happy (and soooo 4000 or 5000 dollars poorer right now) not that i trust WC's release date, (since it was going to be out without a doubt on sept 29th 2001) but do you guys have an estimate yet.. and are you going to include pistons/rods with one of the higher end packages?

WTC recommended to me that rods should be done if i as going to run just 6psi.

my engine is diff but it has been turboed for about 40K miles. Now has about 106K on it. Never had a problem due to the turbo.

But then its all about how it is tuned and mechanical empathy

Nice choice in Intercooler. Used Starion I/C's are hella popular and cheap.

MarkyMark, your posts are by far the most annoying I have read in these forums. You always have something negative to say. And for your information, not all turbochargers need to be running 14+ psi to make a lot of power. If you use 8 psi on a Celica GT, you're looking at upwards of 230 whp, which is more than enough to get a Celica fast. Did you ever think about this little thing called traction? It's kind of important you know. Ask Larry about his car, which has a lot of power, but causes him to have traction problems constantly (no offense Larry. Running some obscene amount of boost would end up just causing problems.

you really cant compare it to a 1.6 honda engine. (wich one do you have) but here is some info from a dyno earlier this year.

its a 92 (90-93 were 1.6)

Greddy turbo (15g)
starion I/C
jims piping
1.8 injectors(94-97 miata injectors)
Vortech FPR
Apex-AVCR (old school black box. some boost issues. i am trying to get a profec B)
timming at 8 deg
crush bent 2.25 inch exahust
stock cat

NGK ZFR7-F11(6months old)
Old OEM NGK wires (also about 6months)
Needed an oil change
(would have taken car of changing all this but i forgot the dyno was today)

1st run with the AVCR turned off. around 120 rwhp
2nd run with AVCR at .55bar 153rwhp (i think)
3rd run with AVCR at .60bar 160rwhp(158.1 but had a small misfire) and 152.7 tq

I have recently gotten rid of the DP that comes with the greddy kit (half DP 1.75" that connects to the stock mid pipe) for a Prototype DP that will be avalible for sale to miatas with greddy kits. made by my friends links in the sig. and have some things comming up
