First of all I have done a few drags nothing serious, but it has always done fine for me. One of my buddies who had never been in my car asked to see what it had so...I did, or I tried anyway. I took first up to a little over 8k rpm and when I threw it into second it slipped or something...acted like it was in neutral. So I tried again, same thing. The last time I slammed it into second just to make sure I wasnt missing it, and it was in gear but there was no go, just like I didnt have a second gear. But if I shift before the lift kicks in then its fine. Some peeps told me it might be my linkage??? I know nothing about trannys so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. (2000 GTS) Oh and btw it has no trouble at all at high rpms shifting in other gears.

It's either worn synchros not letting you into gear (the result of slamming the gear) or you're hitting the reverse gate.

I would've said your clutch might be slipping since your RPM's go up, but speed doesn't...but then you said it works fine in other gears...
Then I would've said your tranny, for one reason or another, simply isn't linking into 2nd...but then you said it kicks in if you shift before lift....
Have you tried down-shifting into high RPMs into 2nd?

Wait, are you in gear when this happens or is the problem that the stick slips back into neutral?

I put it in second gear, all the way in, shifter slips into seconds slot or whatever and it still doesnt hook up, just likek neutral.
