So i was going to my friends house today, and his brother was just completing taking a lawn hose and spraying down the engine bay of his '97 TT supra. ... Is that even allowed? He told me as long as no water gets into electronics or intake the engine is pretty much sealed down. He also told me that he hosed down his ///M3 engine bay as well. The thing is i want to clean out my engine bay (looks dirty as hell... sand, dirt, and dust everywhere!) but dont know how to do it efficiently like with a hose. So.... can i do it? or will it get into my precious 2zz and blow it up? thanks

Cover the alt and battery and you're good to go. Water already hits just about everything in there when it rains, though not in as large an amount as from a hose. It's best if you spray everything down with Greased Lightning or Simple Green first, but only on a cold engine.

I work down at the dealership, and its fine to hose down, just make sure its off and cool.
It's fine, even on an exposed alternator and battery, even on my CAI filter, though not directly.
Yes, make sure your engine is cool. You don't need a crash lesson in thermodynamics, do you? :gap:
