So I'm thinking about buying a set of Hotchkis sway bars soon. But I'm not sure whether to get the Competition or Street for the rear. I know the competition is stiffer, but I'm not planning on doing any autocross or anything along those lines. But it seems like some people end up regretting not getting the Competition bar.

So, for a non-autocrossing daily driver, what would you recommend?

Are there any negatives to the competition bar, since it is meant for competition (I heard that large bumps suck)?

And also, can anyone tell me how sway bars and the TRD rear strut bar will affect my handling in the winter (better or worse)?

Thanks guys!

Here's my take:

I've had the Comp sways on for two years now, in conjonction with front and rear Hypermotive strut bars.

Handling is definitely better than stock, tighter turns, more stability.
I haven't experienced any problems with excessive oversteer or tire wear, but then again, I have the front on the softer setting and I'm not too harsh with my handing of the car. For winter, no problem really, and we get lots of snow up here.

My car is my daily drive and I don't ride it hard, although I do enjoy a few sharp turns now and then.

Your cars are FWD/FF! There's no huge reason to worry about winter time. The real thing you should be worrying about are what tires you are using, what tire pressure you're currently using and how much tread you have left.

I have the Street Sways for DD and they're perfect. Great response and handling in comparison to stock. The TRD Rear Strut also provides a little more stiffness combined with the sways

I just got my TRD rear strut bar and I'm getting it put in next week. I'm gonna get the sway bars before spring, so I'm just trying to get an idea of which ones to get.

Just to let you guys know. Hotchkis sways are hollow bars, so they will not perform to their "advertised" thickness. Try to find a solid bar.

I have Hotchkis Competition front and rear Sway Bars and the TRD 3-point rear strut bar! They wortk together very well. Handling will be better! I also have TEIN SSP with damper, TEIN end links and APR front tower bar!
