I saw this post yesterday and I wasn't going to say anything. But if you HONESTLY want real feed back, here you go...
I don't think that the color you picked looks very good IMHO, but don't let that discourage you because I think that people should modify their cars for themselves, not to try to please other people. So if you looked at a bunch of paint samples and choose that color for your car because YOU thought that it would look good on YOUR car, then I think that you made the right choice.
Other than that one personal issue with the color, I have some concernes about the paint itself. The name of the color is Kandy Baby Blue Mother Pearl, but it looks absolutley nothing like a pearl paint job to me, it just looks like a base coat/clear coat Kandy to me. Is this supposed to be a pearl paint job? The other issue I have with the paint is the gloss/reflective level of it. Your paint doesn't look very reflective to me. At first, I thought that it was just because the pics were taken with a cheap camera, or just a low quality pic, but when I looked at the gallery that you posted the other pics that were taken of other cars didn't look this way, so it must be the actual paint job itself, not just the picture. It looks like you were able to get some gloss out of it, but it doesn't look like it is very reflective. To sum it up, from the pics it looks like it is either a cheap paint/clear coat, or it was cheaply done. I don't know :(

personally, i think it's dope, and it's definitely original, to a celica anyways. it reminds me of the kosuko del sol from a few years back which had a fully whited out interior. you should do something to distance yourself from the masses with the interior as well. without seeing your actual paint job, i can't say that it's a show winner, but it definitely will catch some eyes, and for 4200 bucks it sure as hell better

Getting opinions over the internet for color really is waste of time anyway. Pictures never do a good paint job justice. If you were to see this car in person you would more than likely love it. Great quality paint and kit work just looks awesome nuff said. I love it, definately original. And definately 100x better in person.

The body shop that has done work on mine and Celicapexi's car does not use House of Kolor paint. I've specifically asked the owner about it and he says (and many other people have said this as well) that it isn't how expensive the paint it, its how its sprayed. You can use HoK paint all day long, but if you can't spray it, it will turn out looking worse than cheaper paint. I've never seen this particular car in person, so I'm not suggesting that this car falls into this category, just stating a fact.
As far as the color of this car, all I will say is that IMO the three biggest gay colors for a male-driven car are:
1.Pink
2.Purple
3.Baby Blue

Why would you wanna spend 4grand on a paint job...if you ask for my feedback here you go.
Spending 4grand on a paint job is totally insane and for that color, hellaz no, but if you like it then that is all it counts. I personally agree with a lot of feedbacks on here.

my 2 cents..honestly...
i enjoy seeing pictures of everyone's celicas... IMO good or bad... that's what makes this such a enjoyable message board... if you guys keep flaming everyone's car, just because you don't like it... is it so hard as to NOT post on their thread? if they ask you for opinions... is it hard to say "i don't like it too much" or, "not my color i'd perfer" instead of : puke : and all those other comments...
with bashing like that, it'll make people afraid to post pix, cuz they kow their car will get totally embarassed...
granted yes you have your freedom of speech, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion... but is it too much to ask that you keep a respectable answer?
if you saw this car in person, and he asked you how you liked it... would you puke? would you call him gay?... golly... show some respect for his hard work he did to his celica...
even though i don't like the color also, don't bash the guy for modding his celica the way he wants and calling him gay, that's just immature...

ok... my turn...
1. To each their own... and you gotta remember that... and Matt, just so you're truly happy then thats all that matters...it's your money and your car... so do it your way...
2. whoever mentioned that it's all how HoK paints (kandy's especially) are sprayed is 110% right... the temp, humidity, booth, and gun play major roles with this stuff...
3. I've never seen this paint before, but someone i know said they were getting something similar done... Kandy Baby Blue... but i'm not sure about the pearl thing...i've never really seen anyone add a pearl to a Kandy before???
4. Whoever said it has to be seen in person is absolutely right... pics do no justice for my car... i have one pic of my car in a parking garage and it shows a lil' of the Kandy effects...but it really has to be seen in the sunlight...pics taken in direct sunlight come up all distorted though...too intense and saturated...
but...
you gotta also realize that you asked for people opinions...and you got them...some maybe jealous, some just hate it... being the founder of a Car Club... i've learned that you gotta look at the work...if it's done right thats what matters...you can't apply personal tastes i guess is what i'm saying...
but...my taste...you can't beat a good Kandy paintjob, especially House of Kolors...would i do that color and kit??? no...not for me...but i wouldn't want copies of my car driving round either...variety is the spice of life...

I think it's very ugly... it hurts me to see a celica defaced with such a horrible color. That my friend is an opinion... You obviously are confused somewhat because when people "crack" on your ride they are sharing their opinion with you. The fact that their opinion is negative doesn't change the fact that it is an opinion. You asked for it and you got it.

okay kids,
we do not have to be so naughty towards comments. How about you all leave out the "Fuk, shiet, ghey, fugly, etc". If you do not like it, just simply state that you do not prefer it. The guy doesn't need more stress nor distress from all of your immature comments.
ie
"I don't like it, it just doesn't coorelate to my taste".

Well to you negative remarks = flaming... kind of weird I suppose you expect all positive comments.... you asked for honest opinions and you got mine and many others. By putting the pukes and the other stuff everyone is saying that they don't like it in their own way... I don't mind if you say that my car is ugly in fact somedays i think it is and some days i love it........ Never ask others for opinions on your car unless your ready to face harsh criticism if someone doesn't like it. You did the car yourself to what you like. It shouldn't matter what others think. You are letting everything get to you and that is probably why you should have never asked for everyones opinions on your car.

Don't worry about most of the people on this page like blackgts2002 his car looks relitivley stock even the wheels and he list suck mods as seat grills and headlights .... sorry every one headlights and seat grills should not be listed as a mod I think his best mod is the magnetic bra.... you are always going to get bashed on this site unless you do the same cookie cutter modifications that every one has, don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the basics but they don't set you apart from anyone else... It takes balls to send you car in for a color change when you have never seen the color on the car before it takes balls to order a kit not used frequenlty .... my honest opinions on what you have done so far is, I like it... every thing looks straight in the picture I haven't noticed any waves in the body work and with your color I think it would show in pics I know it would show in person but from what I have seen I like it...
By the way LAW you overstepped opinion when you said i it hurts you to see a celica defaced ,the quality of work should lead you to believe that the work was done in the hands of a skilled individual .... when you said it was ugly yes that is an opinion ...

Opinions can be taken seriously sometimes and that could well mean as a harrassment. Carbonblue might have took most of your opinions as harrassements or flaming. Yeah, well said that if you asked an opinions then do not get mad, but the reality doesn't work that way does it? Just because you don't like nor prefer his ride, that does not mean let everything out and bash on it. Keep some of the stuff to yourself and think about how others would think when they hear your nasty voices. Please, world is not made up of only you and you must think before you speak upon.

I found out about this website because someone took pic's from my website and posted a thread here this one is very mild compared to what was said last year about my car when it was red and I didn't post it... we all need to take a look at were the custom car scene came from and have respect for it ... in over 60 years do you not think there have been changes to how things get done and styles, I do other wise we would all be building 32 fords but I guess everone has forgoten the past of custom cars... if you don't like the color say it....if you don't like the kit say it ... but you don't have to be a totall punk and think your billie bad a$$ because your over the internet and think you would be brave enough to say it to someone's face.

Many people think that baby blue color is terrible. Does that qualify it as a fact?
Many people from the board also think you ruined the celica's good looks on your car. Does that qualify as a fact?
You may say its your car and you can do what you want, but cars are designed and are works of art by the designers. I honestly believe the calty design team would shed tears if they saw either one of your cars on the road. Now the question is... Is that an opinion or a fact?

You need to come down off your high horse about how great your car is and how everyone else's is some sort of "cookie cutter". I mean seriously, what type of creativity does it take to slam your car on hydraulics (done a million times), shave your door handles (countless), shave any number of other things (great, any body shop worth a s**t can do that), paint it a garish color and leave the body stock? let me ask a question who here has modifided ther vehicle past stock specifications????? would the designer's shed tears because it is diferent then what they desiged .... what I have seen latley from desiger's are very smooth lines on there concept vehicles some have almost none of the standard outside features...why do you think this is ??? I bet it is the people who make decisions that say these will never sell because the public is not ready for this .... then the designer's g back to making something more blah then they wanted it .. yes it was design as a sports car and yes I have done a few things to take away it's handling but I really don't care the lines that the designer's created are beutiful and nothing pulls from the lines.. my personal opinion is a designer would be happy with the looks of my celica maybe not the suspension but oh well. my vision in the celica keeps them paid.... whats funny is you all say myself and matt ruined our car's yet I still have less than 25k on it and you don't here me saying I miss shifted AGAIN and BLEW ANOTHER MOTOR or I burned my clutch out... if anyone is ruining there cars it's the people who can not treat the car with respect and take care of it's internals

I'm at 44k miles gonna hit 45k in a few days, never a miss-shift (on my original year 2000 motor), I went through a clutch because I drive the car hard and it is a normal wear item especially when put under tougher conditions. I didnt buy my car so it could sit on hydraulics and look pretty (or ugly, your call). I bought my car because its fun to drive, especially when you take it to the limits.

Heya...
Everyone's got their own styles, and their own opinions. Majority rules, but not in the eyes of the individual.
Do what makes you happy, and what you think might set yourself from the crowd...but don't do something crazy just to be different.
People that go to extremes just to be different, tend to be the same altogether.
The only qualms I've got is that the colors just don't appeal to me...they just aren't pleasing to the eye, but more of a garish, shocking, reach out that's trying to say "HEY I'M DIFFERENT".
It's like watching Skittles on wheels or something...it's just something you don't expect.
But that's a personal opinion, and my own..
The cars look very clean....and look like the owner put alot of care into getting it to look their way. I'll give you props for that...

SORRY FOLKS it's JUICED CELICA I wasn't smart enough to figure ou how tokeep one account at home and at work so here I am... yes Jesse from il you car is very cookie cutter gess I have never seen that bumper before or a 5 star wheel wow you even have s2k antenna how original is that... how do you figure I left my body stock??? shave mirror's, door handle's, antena, rear wiper, rear wing, license plate box, trunk handle, relocated trunk handle, frenchd in the front marker lights, I ven got rid of the little lip in the rear bumper.... iterior should I get started on that or isfull custom good enough no stock panels suspension ...yes it's hydraulic and it has been done a million times but not on a celica lowering springs on a celica have been done amillion times on a celica ...I guess what I am trying to say jesse is your flaming people for being different.... Know one ever give an opinion based onthe quality of the work example you new bumper lines up good jesse and the paint ooks like it was blended perfectly or a bad one jesse I can't believe you got an after market bumper painted but you left your side skirts factory and black I personally would have painted them.... instead we always get this I can't believe jesse was fawking dumb enough to cut a hole in is fender so he could put the ghey a$$ marker lights on his car when I could simple have said I don't really like t marker lghts not my taste... yes jesse I am an a$$ but you are a perfect little cookie cutter
AS for you redline thats the difference I bought my car so I could be unique and stand out I also paid 22k so I could have a car that required nothing for 100k of perfect driving or more not to drive it into the ground and replace the clutch in under 50k an you also seem pretty cookie cutter excep for the clutch because not many people are replacing those yet

Anyways, As I grew into this page, people here don't like things that are different. I love the way it looks.. and you can't please everyone.

no problem matt .... I don't like seeing the bashing that goes on .... I get it alot about my car and people can state there opinions I am open to critisim as I'm sure you are but we have a bunch of children that like to be hateful in how they express their dislike's.... critisim can be constructive but around here it is just plain hateful.... there are to many h8er's on this board that can't realize not every one bought the celica to be a race car driver or to build the car for the masses.... there are serveral after market painted car's on this board painted in color's I would never think of painting my car because I don't like orange and yellow but the fact is even the quality of work is aparent threw pic's and I would never consider bashing someone who put in time and effort to make their car how they want it.. so to every one out there who has done something risky like a color change I take my hat off to you it's people like you who keep me buying magazines to see what I can learn from someone else's style.

By "learn", of course, you mean "copy"...you're not as original as you claim to be. Odds are - its been done already. You're just taking something someone else has done and applying it to your particular application. You're not an "innovator" in this sport by any stretch of the imagination.

That is a pretty broad stroke you have applied there. According to your definition to be a true innovator you would really have to custom build the entire car and even that wouldn't be a sure thing. You would be sorely pressed to do something to a stock Celica or any car that has not been done by before by someone, somewhere. IMHO
juicedcelica
06-06-2002, 09:48 AM
mistremeat.... if thats how you want to take it then that is exactly what I meant ..... I have never claimed to be an inovator all I have claimed is I am diferent than any other celica owner.... in today's day and age there is nothing you can do to a car or truck that has not been done... but what you can do is be the first to get a new car and apply those same idea's to that vehicle and stand out by doing a vehicle that no one has considered doing in that fashion.... mistremeat I would like to see what you have done for to your car or for that matter, I would really like to see how you have helped to better the custom car scene with your idea's . I have a feeling you are following the masses with your car then again there is nothing wrong with that but parked by 10 celica's I bet your's won't stand out or get a second look how ever park mine next to 10 celica's and I can tell you were the crowd will be. so while I may not be an "inovator" I am an originator within the celica community. I can remeber a celica meet last year with over 20 celica's in az there were 2 celica's that had more than just lowering spring's. I bought my celica may of 2000 and I can gaurentee by jully I had more custom work than anyone in the country with a 2000 celica considering they only made springs and a body kit at the time. so mistremeat have fun following the masses as for me I am going continue being an originator... I hope you catch up with the masses soon it has to be hard following when your so far behind

True, true.

You do indeed have a unique Celica but don't get too full of yourself. I could glue peach baskets all over my car and be very original too but my message/art would not appeal to many.

And of those 20 people, I'm sure most of them had ideas of things they wanted done to their Celica that would have made them not only stand out, but look good... however, everyone doesn't have the funds to throw down on every idea they have. Just because you have the money to make it original and they have the money to do the standard mods doesn't mean sh*t

juicedcelica:
As I thought, you missed anything that is "unique" or different on my car. I just don't feel the need to list pointless "mods". I go for the look that the car could have appeared to come that way from the factory. I noticed that you keep talking about your "frenched" corner lamps. Did you see mine? Didn't think so, because they aren't there. Did you also notice the license plate bracket on my TRD bumper? Missed that one to, eh? Because its also been filled and molded. And its funny you DID notice the side skirts, because like I said the car is going in Monday to have those painted, among other things. My car also sports a molded RMM rear valence.
My problem with you is that you accuse other people of having "cookie cutter" cars and imply a lack or imagination or creativity on their part. While I agree that this may often be the case, perhaps you see so many "cookie cutters" because the parts simply look good. The more creative among us seek to make the differences apparent in the details. But the fact remains that the Celica is a popular car, there is no way around seeing similar cars. You claim your car is unique because it has all sorts of totally common and mundane "mods" that while possibly rare on a Celica, have been done for years. By your rationale, if I went and bought a Yugo, shaved a bunch of stuff, slammed it on hydraulics, and got robbed by a bodyshop to paint it some horrible color, I would have some "unique" and "cool" car. :wtf: I think not. And have you ever considered the fact that your Celica remains "unique" because its f**king horrible looking? Food for thought.

I know oldster, I try to always keep my post helpful to the topic but sometime's when people start bashing they forget they are bashing someone for being different .... I am never on a high horse saying that every one must bow to me .... I believe in my years in the custom car scene I have contributed alot and have the right to express my self were I see fit... my problem is I come form the minitruckin community and not the import racer community and I am noticing a major respect issue here that is totally lacked. I'm in az and I have seen many hang out spots that have taken alot of time to be approved by the city lost.because of a ricer. I'm not pointing blame at any one person what I'm saying is the 2 scene's are different minitrucker's try and better the scene by being respectful and courteous on the road we try to set an example on the road while flying our logo's ... many not all racer's continue to set us all back because when they see something different they give you the thumbs down and race off giving custom car's a bad image to not only the public but also to law enforcement... This nc.org is a place I no longer want to be a part of if I wanted to watch drama every day I'd go back to high school so fair well

I disagree. (gasp!) Small details like a bracket on a bumper doesn't make you more creative than someone with a color change. Yes, color changes and other mods like hydraulics have been done before, but not to a Celica. That in my opinion is a lot more original than an S2000 antenna. Granted, I have a lot of common mods, but like you said there are a lot of great parts out there. But I just prefer that my car stands out a little more than a painted stock side skirt like you.

In my opinion, I think your car is f*cking horrible looking. I think out of the choice of kits that are out there, that is the ugliest front bumper. And your rims look like you paid a lot of extra money to look just like the stock GT-S rims but in 17" or 18" instead. That's totally unoriginal and a waste of money IMO just in the way that you think color changes or hydraulics are a waste of money. Some of us prefer more extreme mods, but the point here is that I didn't say your car was :gay: or phucking ugly or whatever like some ignorant people on this board.
jotan, you are right, it is becoming like ClubSi in here. That's probably why I lurk more than I post nowadays.

The point of this is... oldster shut up i learned the hard way :chuckles: ... You ask for opinions you get them, if you dont like other opinions dont yell back because all your doing is throwing fuel for flames. These people are flaming because you aren't respecting there opinions. If its harsh oh well lifes not a picnic but dont scramble back and forth it solved nothing but raising your post count and slowing down the site. Its useless. Matt you got your opinion, All those that like it GREAT, all those that dont GREAT, Matt... if they dont like it they dont like it! PERIOD. PLease close this thread this is a waste of bandwith.
Matt
PS: Honestly dont like the color but, if yah threw some rims, custom interior, and a rear wing on it... it would be a good show car.

Originator....of what, bad taste? You take the crown, my friend.
Since you are the self-proclaimed "Originator", I guess these people copped your style...

OSrry about the 2 account thing I have fixed it..... as for jesse from what I remember the side marker lights don't come on that bumper I could very well wrong but if I am right you did nothing custom other than the bumper.. shaving the holes in the bumper your right I didn't notice but then again I don't list little mods that had to be filed with a little eurothane like the bumper holes needed... if you gave me a rear pic I would have noticed your wing ... I know I have insulted alot of people with the cookie cutter thing and it was not my intention my intention was your flaming somone because he had 4 g's to drop on his car and he chose body and paint work... were some people don't have the money for every mod the want ... there's nothing wrong with that but don't flame myself or matt because we did and we chose that... I like hearing opinions even the negative ones but the fact is you don't have to be a d!ck about how you give it show some consideration and respect and people might not get upset because the got a bad opinion... 1 last thing why did someone have to start a thread in G.D. about this same thing what so you could talk more sh!t with out matt knowing about it .... This site is pretty lame I've met quite a few cool people from az I think there are quite a few off you from other state's that I wouldn't mind talkiNG with and then the rest IF YOU WANT A FIGHT WHY DON'T YOU PUT YOUR HEAD UP YOUR A$$ AND FIGHT FOR AIR

This is the last thing I will say, I promise. Just wanted to say something for the record.
I did not arbitrarily pick on juicedcelica because I don't like his car. This guy has been spinning the same garbage since he first started posting here. The first thread he EVER responded to (which I was a part of) was someone asking for a recommendation on sparkly paint. This guy comes in there and starts belittling everyone in the thread because they (this is the good part) don't know about custom paint, even though they were posting in the thread trying to learn. Then he started telling people that they were stupid because they were proud of their factory paint. Then he started his whole "cookie cutter" rant. If this guy leaves the site, it will definitely be for the best.
