I have been wondering for a while why when disabling the celicas daytime running lights, everyone has to go through the trouble of cutting wires. Why not just take out the fuse in the larger fuse box in the engine compartment? I did this today and it has the same effect, no auto-on and full control of the headlights. There must be a reason why nobody does this, I'm just curious as to what it is.

Okay, there are two fuse boxes inside the engine bay. Inside the larger fuse box is a 7.5 amp fuse, your owners manual will tell you which one exactly via a picture towards the back of it. This fuse controls the DRL system. I just pulled that out and I no-longer have auto-ons and have full control of my headlights, why not just do this as opposed to cutting wires. There must be some reason why no one does this as I'm sure I'm not the first one to think of it.

If anyone tries this, I am not responsible for any damages done to your car as a result of this modification; do so at your own risk.

Has anyone else tried this? Do you have a pic of exactly what the fuse looks like, revlimiter?

I tried this right now to see if it worked and it didn't work. I took out the fuse DRL no.1 7.5amp, then I turned on car, put ebrake down and they still turned on. I turned off car again and then opened the Fuse & Relay box. I took out DRL no.2, DRL no.3, and DRL no.4. I turned on the car again, put ebrake down and the lights still turned on. So I don't know what you did to make it work.

I am pretty sure that I know the answere to your question. When you pull the DRL fuse it will disable the DRL's, but the catch is that it aslo disables your high beams. So if you go with the pulling the fuse method, you will no longer have any high beams. I'm not 100% sure it this is correct. Try running out to your car to see if your high beams work and post back here with the results ;)

I just cut the wire about an hour ago. No need to pull out the B6 connector. Just count up 3 from the bottom and cut the yellow/green wire. Viola. No more drls. :)

He is not talking about pulling a fuse. He is talking about removing a relay. Pull out DRL Relay #2 and your DRL's will be gone, but so will your high beams.

This is an old news........ From what I have heard, apparently removing relays were causing electrical shortening and failures..not quite sure but you can ask Clone-GTS.... and personally, cutting one wire is much simple than messin with relays...
