Is using regular gas for the GT normal? Or is it recommended to use higher octane? Thanks!

yes using regular is normal, and recommended. higher octane would be a waste of money on a gt.

From what the people at Toytoa have told me, putting anything higher than a 87 octane is useless, as the GT engine will think it is 87 no matter what and therefore higher octane gas provides no performance enhancement. Also, higher octane gas can hurt the car in the long run from what I have heard, mostly burning the valves since they are not meant for higher octane gas, which gives a longer burn, as compared to lower octane gas. Bottom line: just use 87.

I use premium on local driving and use medium on long distance trips. For some reason I've noticed that medium grade get way better mileage. I am gonna start using medium as I found premium's dont do jack shiet for GT.... but then again... it is only like dollar difference for a full tank...
