Going to look at a hood being sold by a fellow member tomorrow. Really don't have any reason to doubt him, his rep is good and he has been nothing but straight forward in our emails. However, this is the first time I have bought a used carbon fiber hood.
Anything I should look at specifically? Are the brand names marked on them somewhere, or how do you tell the VIS and Seibon's from some of the other brands?
Like I said, I have no reason to doubt the guy, I just have never bought a used one and don't know what to look for.

Fitment/yellowing/rockchips/if its a one piece design
Mine was 2 pieces, top and bottom, and it was coming apart. Unfortunately I bought the hood from a non local.

This is just for personal preference...some cf hoods come with a non-raised hood scoop that is stuck in the hood..i like raised hood scoop and if the cf hood comes with a raised hood scoop then its a plus.....MAKE SURE U INSTALL THE HOOD FULLY ON UR CAR AND TEST FITMENT!

my vis is almost 100% perfect fitment. One thing I always hear about vis hoods is you really should get it re-clear coated because the clear they use sucks and will yellow very easily.

Every Carbon Fiber Hood Has A Gel Like Coat, not A Clear Coat, your Best Bet Is To Get It Resand And Cleared At A Paint Shop, when It Starts To Get Sun Damage,i Got It Recleared 2 Years After I Bought It.it Looks Brand New.to Keep The Hood Looking Like New..keep It Clean,wash,wax...

Does VIS stamp their hoods with their name? How do I know it's a VIS hood and not a replica.

Just picked it up, looks great. Some cracking near the hood scoop, but nothing major. Had the VIS stamped on it also. Thanks again guys, I had no clue what to look for.

If you just look close at it, you'll see it clearly if there is a problem....
