2 things I know of that can cause that. The car won't let the 2nd cam kick in until its warm, so make sure ur car is at normal temp. Also check oil level, since the 2nd cam is oil pressure actuated if u are low on oil it may not work properly.

yup you definately need solid oil pressure in order to kick it.. BUT if you have been beating the sh1t out of the car its possible that the lift pin has worn out as it does wear over time with repeated Lift hits... anyway get it checked out at the dealer.

Is your check engine light on by any chance? There are a number of conditions that might cause the ECM to disable high lift mode... Also look on the drivers side of the head - there are 2 connectors there - (the VVTLi OCV and Oil Pressure Sensor) - check and make sure both connectors are snapped on tight

My car was making a grinding sound and the lift was going in and out...lift pin sound like it could be my problem....where is it located in the engine....what's the part number and how much do you think it would be to fix it....I already removed the valve cover so I'm doing the work...

The lift pins are an integrated part of the rocker arm assemblies - there is one for every rocker arm (so 8 total)... You will have to take the cams out to do the job and it is a royal pain in the butt - you might want to reconsider. - Also this would cause lift to not engage it would NOT cause it to pop back out of lift once its on. Sounds more like you might have an oil pressure issue or something

oil pressure? hmmm....well...I did put new oil and it still didn't work...then it did a week later, then it was sporatic while it was in lift in 4th gear...so what feeds the oil pressure to the pins or whatever?? or could it be a solenoid?? I've been driving w/o lift for about 3 months.....dunno what I can do to fix it w/o taking it to the dealership....any diagrams would help

Oil pressure is fed by the Oil Control Valve on the back of the head (transmission side of head) - theres an oil pressure sensor right next to it. You can yank the pressure sensor and put a regular oil pressure gauge in there and hotwire that oil control valve on to test it if you want. But honestly unless your past your powertrainm warranty you should just take it to the dealership. Its under warranty after all.
