HELP! The summer car show season is going strong yet I dont have enough money to do it all at once. So should I buy the blitz body kit I love or should I get those nice 18's I've got my heart set on? Which would be better? Which will help me win more? I will get both eventually but not this month. It's one or the other. What do I do? HELP! PLEASE!

Rims and springs first, grasshopper. Cars with body kits and stock rims look ghey. And bodykits on cars with no drop looks even worse.

I see everybody's point, but then again, 60% of the celica's posted on here with their pics have kits and stock rims. Plus the trd package celica's usually come with a kit and stock rims straight from the dealer. But you are right it would look bad. It's just that the kit is on sale for like $500 for the whole blitz kit and I hate to pass up a good deal. ... But thanks for everyone's input I appreciate it.

I'm going to have to go against every one else and say get the body kit. IMHO the factory rims look great on the Celica. When I very first got my Celica, which is an early build date 2000, I got asked several times by people if my wheels were aftermarket. The only reason people know they are stock rims now is because there are more Celica's on the road with them.
I agree that with a lot of cars, kits look out of place with the factory wheels, but I think that is mostly because the factory wheels on cars are kind of bland. The factory Celica wheels look alot like aftermarket wheels to me, with their sporty five spoke design, so I think that they look good on Celica's with kits. I think that a lot of people who get aftermarket rims end up getting wheels that look a lot like the factory ones anyway.
And to answere your question, I think that you would have a better chance of winning a car show with a body kit on factory rims than you would with rims with no kit. But on I don't think that you would have much of a chance of winning unless you have both and a whole lot more, at least if you entered any of the car shows that I do. The competition out there is pretty stiff.

I don't think rims look right unless you have the car dropped or you have a body kit, i think the biggest eye grabber about our cars is some of the extreme body kits, i personally hate the way our cars look without body kits, i couldn't buy it without one, it makes a huge difference, i think more than rims ever will. Think about what area of the car the rims covers and then all that the body kit covers, definately more of an eye grabber. I plan on keeping the stock GTS rims, i paid for em, might as well use them, they are really nice looking, and with the right drop they will look perfect. Granted there are some really nice rims, especially on celicas, and bigger wheels do get some attention, keeping the stock ones on will not make me lose as much power as the nineteens that i love. Good luck on your decision, but body kit would be my choice.
