Hey guys/gals...

In the next couple of months (prolly around Aug or Sept) I am going to be moving out to Georgia, specifically Woodstock. Curious how everything is out there? Moving out there with my Fiance. Wondering if the jobs are plentiful, weather is nice, cops are nice, and all around the atmosphere? So post up if you can and let me know.

Later,
Chris

P.S. Anyone know of any Network Admistrator jobs in the area of Atlanta?

No.. don't know of any (cuz I am looking for one too..) so turn around and go back.. hehehehe... J/k..

Actually next to CA Atlanta is or was the hot spot for that kind of stuff.. with all the lay-offs that have been going on it is difficult right now to find an IT job because there is so many people out there with x amount of experience.

Woodstock is not a bad place.. If you get a job down in Atlanta you will hate your commute on I-75..

Oh and there are a lot of trees here... :D Weather is good at times I think... one day it will feel like summer and the next winter (and this is in the spring and Fall)

Cops.. well that just depends on the area.. I don't think Woodstock is too bad.. (not as bad as Duluth)

Coolwheels00 (Jamie) lives up there he might respond to this..

I live closest to woodstock and yes cops are bad I drive through woodstock all the time going to my sisters and I used to work in the town lake area, cops suck but it's not that bad of a place to live

Oh I forgot to mention it is hot as nutz out here hense the nick name hotlanta, you can only water outside between the hours of 10PM and 10AM yes that means no washing the car unless you wake up early in the morning or late at night. Oh and that's on an odd even system.

Yeah driving through woodstock plan on seeing at least 10 cops in a 5 mile drive, don't even think of speeding my dad was given a ticket for 15 over he was only doing maybe 10 and that's stretching it I was with him when it happend, Woodstock police just want to screw you out of your money.

Woodstock is a nice area. My sister in law lives there. As Todd said, if you get a job in downtown which is about a 25-30 minute drive normally, it will take you about 2 hours to get home during the week. No joke. And don't ask me about cops. They don't like me. They suck...
Oh, and welcome to Atlanta. :)

some of GA is cool but like everyone said the traffic and weather suck. we run out of stuff to do a lot also but then we always get creative. we think of cool things to do like have cookouts where we make hamburger buns with cheese or cook burgers for 45 minutes and then try to get someone to eat them.

"welcome to atlanta where the playas play, and we ride on dem thangs like everyday..." take that, take that. you'll understand soon enough how stupid we really are.

Thanks for the replies guys... kinda nervous about going out there, hell, I've never even been to Georgia and I am moving out there. How is the humidity/heat (I'm used to a dry heat) during the summer and how are the winters in Atlanta?

It is verry humid usually. I was out doing yardwork the first part of yesterday and was soaked in sweat the whole time. You get used to it. I would much rather it be hot and humid than freezing cold. Spring and Fall are really nice, the summer is really hot, and the winter is all over the place. Sometimes extremely cold one day and in the 60s the next day.

Weather here sucks, Summers are hot and Humid and yes you do get used to it, we really only have 2 seasons summer and Fall/Spring, it does get cold here but only for maybe a week and then a day or two it will be freezing and the next in the 60's. Atlanta's the only place that you need to where shorts in the morning bring an umbrella for the afternoon and then heavy clothes for the evening, In one day you can feel all seasons no kidding.
