Hey guys, I'm writing from Canada.
Can you tell me what the min octance rating is for the Celica GT-S?
If possible can you email or post the wiring diagram for the ECU on the GT-S. Or at least tell me if the 2002 Euro Celica has the new knock sensor, I believe it's a 3 wire version.

I am asking this, cause I'm wondering if I can use a European ECU instead of the crappy North American ECU with the 7800rpm fuel cut-off on the 2002 models.

Thanks,
B

I am pretty sure that the ECU will fit both ways, but i wouldn't expect 12hp straight out of the european stock ECU. The ECU is designed to work under 95 octane fuel so it should work for you. About the know sensor i couldn't tell you but if the GTS has it the T-sport would have it as well.

I suggest two things:
1) PM "soceur", he owns a GTS in germany and he did some research on this topic. Last time I checked an ECU unit was about 800euros for it.

2) Look for someone who is willing to remap your ECU. I think this way you are more likely to gain 20hp.. it will not be cheap tho, but the best way to go.

good luck

I understand there is two different types of Octane ratings. I'm not sure which one is used in Europe.
For example. We must use an Octance rating of 91 or higher(which also equals Research Octance Number 96).
Do you know which one you guys use? Our gasoline goes by the Octance rating of 91.

All the octane rating have different numbers but are still the same. Like here in germany our US 93 is like there Euro 98. Its just they use a different scale.

99+Racing is the brand of the new Shell type of gasoline. It says that it improves acceleration and its used to prevent some cars from pinging. We also have the Vpower 98octane gas which is for cleaning the inner cylinders from smoke, etc etc

95 and 98 here. On the GTE and T sport you should use 98, because the compression ratio is 1:10
