I took a trip to St. Louis this past weekend and I ended up renting a car while I was up there. I was stuck with a Grand Am 4 door SE, and no, it wasn't the one with a six cylinder engine in it. Let me tell you, the car doesn't look that bad, but it SUCKS. The body roll when you take a turn in this thing was horrible, and the engine just sounds SOOO weak. This thing made me long for my Celica, in fact, after the first day of driving it, I missed it so much I almost cried like a little girl ;) . Anyways, I thought it would be a good thing to post since a lot of people are taking their Celis for granted nowadays and selling them for other cars. I don't think there is another car out there that could make me as happy as the Celica does that is in the same price range.

And this coming from a GT auto owner. The Grand Am couldn't have felt that much weaker. Handling-wise, I understand the differences - all Celica's kick ass in that department.

I don't care what you say about GT Autos, but this car weighs 3,116lbs and has the following:
Engine horsepower: 140hp @ 5600RPM
Engine torque: 150ft.lbs. @ 4000RPM
Yeah, it does have more torque, but that still does not make up for a 600 lb increase in weight.

I had a 2002 maxima se for a rental once and I still missed the celi after. :)

It isn't that bad of a car now... Sure it doesn't handle like a Celica.. it is a 4 door base model aimed at more mellow people or as 2kgtx.. would say.. Older people like me ;)
He!! I went from an '99 Si to my '99 2dr. Se and I miss my Si.. but it isn't that bad of a car.. :D

Yeah, well, I hated the car I drove cuz it was 4 door and was stripped, plus, the stereo only worked some of the time. It isn't that bad of a car I suppose if it is a 2 door, since you would have a dramatic drop in weight. Anyways, I wasn't trying to cut down your car, because I am sure yours is much better than what I drove since you have more than likely modded it some. I was just saying that the rental car I drove was horrible, probably because people had beaten the hell out of it. In fact, when I tried to rev the engine past 4k in neutral, the fuel cutoff was activated.

That's a GM thing my Parents Alero cuts off around there too, it will only let you rev above that if you have traction and in gear,
Todd I am glad you realize that the car is for older people like you and oldster.
Oh and I can spin my tires from a dead stop but then again it's a manual.

I know no one will believe me on this one, but I have spun the tires on the Celi a couple times myself.

LoL. And if you don't mind going used, there are plenty of cars that are the same amount of money, and will def make you happier.
