If I had a sunroof, this wouldn't be an issue 'cause it's in the installs.

I ran a search to see if anyone who doesn't have a sunroof and a radar detector hardwired and didn't find anything....

So, the question is, where would I hardwire a radar detector in my car without a sunroof? If I ran it to the dome light would that work? But would there be too much power taken away from the dome light, and the underdash neons (I have them wired there to)
There's gotta be a simple way to do this, and I was just wondering, before I start cutting and soldering all over the place, if someone had it done or if someone knew how to do it already.

If you are too concerned you could run power from your cig lighter. Just run the wires up the a pillar. Since that is where you would normally plug it in anyway.

If I were to do that I would just splice into the back of it right? It would still work just as it does now, so it could work I guess, when you say pillar I get confused. I was going to have the detector right by the rear view, take the wire in the ceiling, down the side piece where the dome light wire is on the drivers side or passenger i guess, less wiring, just go behind the glove box, under the dash, then to the cig lighter if I would do it that way. I dunno, anyone have any more thoughts, ideas? Thanks!

this is what I did:

i drilled a little hole and ran the wire through it.. then just tapped into the cig ligher's 12V supply... the fuse is more than large enough to power it w/ no problems
