My first impression is that they are not as stiff as I was expecting, but I'm thinking the struts and sways will get it where I want it. It still should settle a little more I think but it went from a fist and a half gap in the back to two fingers, and a fist in the front to a little more than two fingers. Any suggestions on what to do about the allignment? The back especially looks like it has too much positive camber and may be towed in a little. It definately looks a lot better.

get an alignment as soon as you can. don't risk screwing things up. and sway bars will most definitely stiffen things up *cough cough*. you might need a camber kit too.

Nah, you wont need a camber kit. See if Toyota will align it for you since they are TRD springs. Otherwise you'll have to find a shop like Butler Tire here in Marietta that deals with modified suspension cars. I'm suprised that you have pos camber...Usually, you'll get negative.

cool, glad you got them on duncan. can't wait to see how they look in person. i'm not really sure what to do about an alignment since i didn't bother getting one with my minimal drop. i'm sure it wouldn't hurt to get one done though, but i'm just not sure where. i guess toyota would do a decent job.

Ooops, nevermind, I thought you had TRD springs. Toyota wont touch it. Butler Tire is prolly your best bet.

my acura dealer did my alignment, i've got eibach's. dude, i need to go to butler tire to get the high-speed on-car balancing, so tell me when you're going up there if you are, and maybe we can cruise up there together.

Sorry, I meant negative camber. I'm retarded. They are Hotchkis springs not TRD, but That shouldn't matter. It depends on how much Toyota would rip me off for to get them to do it. I'm going to call around and see if I can get it alligned tomorrow or at least make an appointment. I think it looks good, and it will look even better with some bigger wheels.

Where is Butler? I can go anyday this week if you want to Michael. Preferably tomorrow or as soon as possible. How much does a full allignment cost there?

Toyota is where I took my car for my alignment initially. When they saw that the car was lowered, they said NO WAY, we don't align suspension modified cars. Then I took it up the street to somewhere else and they said the same thing, but recommended Butler Tire which was also just up the street.

Butler Tire is up here in Marietta. It's right up the street from the "Big Chicken", if you know where that is. Just call info and get the number. It's a nice shop. Lot'sa nice wheels too. When I drove up, he already had some 19's picked out for my car. LOL.

where was the butler tire you went to jamie? i'm thinkin about going to the one in marietta. duncan, i can probably fit something in thursday, but i'm not sure.

Thanks for the info Jamie! How did you adjust your front camber again? It only dropped 1 3/8 in the front so I'm not sure if it will adjust out easily or not. I'm wondering if I should track down some crash bolts before I get it alligned thursday. Did your rear camber adjust out with the stock adjuster? Marietta is kind of far for me but I guess it could work. Hopefully I won't hurt anything driving it how it is until thursday.

i still need an alignment...tires don't look bad or anything...but my head hurts just thinking about messing them up....
god i need 70 bucks!!!
J5ISALIVE
06-03-2002, 09:00 PM
oh and duncan...i don't think you'll need the bolts...cause i believ the stock ajusters can handle up to a 1 7/8 in drop...not sure.
cbr600drm
06-03-2002, 09:11 PM
Yeah, $70 bucks is a lot better than the $ for a new set of tires. It sounds like I'll be ok without a camber kit. I guess we'll see when I take it up there thursday.

Michael, do you know if you need to get an appointment at Butler? I'm guessing we will. I'll look them up in the phone book and try to call and find out whats available for thursday morning.

You shouldn't need bolts in the front... BUT if you do, GO to toyota and buy dot 3 crash bolts. Don't buy camber bolts! Huge rip-off.
And if your rear needs more adjusting than the stock adjuster can handle... that's going to be expensive (Hotchkis rear control arm).
Oh, and camber doesn't kill tires, toe does. I had slight positive camber on my front wheels and thought I was OK. I learned the hard way and have destroyed the kumhos on my eclipse b/c the toe was so far in.

I still need to go back to Butler tire they did an alignment on my car when I got my rims but not since I dropped my car.

Thanks Blake! The back does look a little toed in. The front doesn't really look like it is but it may be a little. My guess is if the back camber doesn't adjust out to spec that it will probably be close enough.

Thats fine with me. Mine should be done by then I would think so we can do whatever. Did they say how long the balancing will take Michael? Doesn't seem like it would take long. I dropped of my bag today at this lugage repair place about a block from Andretti and I'm supposed to pick it up thursday sometime. We can do whatever and if you have nothing else to do you could go over when I pick up my bag and we could hit up Andretti. Lauren said to say hi by the way. Barry and I talked to her today. LOL Oh yeah, and I baught Barry's wheels so I should be set for a while once I get some Parada specII's on them.

Lauren is really cute. I just wish she would have stopped flashing us. I can only handle so much nakedness in one day.

06-04-2002, 06:46 PM
You guys shouldn't need any additional parts (crash bolts etc..) for your alignment. I think I have the lowest drop of us and it all came out fine with the stock adjusters. There was no bad camber in the front for mine, just in the rear.

06-04-2002, 07:41 PM
Lauren did have some really nice breasts, but it was getting old after about the 20th time she showed them to us.:chuckles:
I'm sure if yours adjusted out Jamie, then I should be fine. I drove it a lot today and it doesn't look any worse so it doesn't look like it needs much adjusting.

She's this girl that got hit on by just about everyone that was with us at Andretti saturday night. She works there. Mark swears he's getting her number, I think Lester was working on it, Michael was working on it, and I think a couple more were trying to. So naturally Barry and I took advantage of the fact that nobody else was there and used our skills to get her going.

hahaha, you guys are funny as hell. maybe next time i'm up there we can ask if she'd like to hang out with us sometime. i think for now i'll calm down on the whole "gettin' the digits" thing. she probably won't appreciate being mugged by a whole entire car gang. haha. i have no idea how long the balancing is gonna take duncan. but meeting mark for some lunch sounds good. i'm really looking for an excuse to not have to go to work thursday.

06-04-2002, 09:22 PM
That would be a good idea Michael. While we were there( I think Barry had left) there was another girl that was hot there talking to her. Maybe she could get some friends together and come do something with us. Yeah, lunch sounds good to me also. The only other thing I have to do is go by that place over in Roswell before 5:00 so I'm up for doing whatever.

This is goingt o sound like a really silly question to all of you, but here goes anyway: Do the TRD springs dramatically lower the ride height? Do they just replace the stock ones? Are there addidtional parts required other than the springs? I'd like to drop the car, but I have zero suspension experience.
2kgtx
06-05-2002, 06:30 AM
Let me try and answer this
Kinda
Yes
No
That's ok will try and give you a little understanding
I have the TRD springs I like the drop some people say it's not enough but I don't like the slammed look I like it just to be a little lower with less gap between the wheels and the wheel well. My car went from more then a fist gap between the rear wheels and wells to less then 2 fingergap. the front went from about a fist and a half to about 3 fingergap. I like it.
The Springs are just replacement springs you pull the old springs off the shocks and put the new ones in place.

I'm going in a few minutes to see if they can patch repair a nail whole in one of the tires. I'm hoping they can so I can go ahead and put them on. If not it will have to wait until I can get some Parada specII's.
You may or may not be able to get the springs Mark has anymore. I think they have been replaced by 1" all around drop springs that are even less of a drop than his. The Eibach pro kit is almost the same thing as the old TRD springs.
Baldhead_J
06-05-2002, 07:07 AM
Sounds like Eibach is the way to go then. Unless osmeone has on old set of TRD's they are trying to part with. Thanks for the help. Any clue (because apparently I am too damn lazy to go to eibach.com and look) as to what they cost?

It's no problem if it wasn't for NC.org all I would have been doing today is clicking between my e-mail and the e-mail off the website here at my office and so far the only questions that have come in came in last night and we finished answering those before 9. looks like another slow day a muRata electronics.

If my TRD suspension kit ever gets here I'll have the 1" drop springs to sell. I already have Hotchkis springs on and I'm just going to use everything in the kit except the springs.
