Well, lately I've been noticing this rattling noise coming from the glove box area. I had the day off so I swung by toyota to see if they had seen this before. I had already removed everything from the car just to make sure it wasn't loose change or something. Well I go back and the guys says it was my CAI. But that is on the left side of the car so I'm like wtf? I asked if he could show me exactly what was rattling and he said the tech who worked on it already went home. He said to call and ask the guy tomorrow. I'm kinda feeling bs on that one.

Well I get home to find out that somewhere along the line the kaminari sticker on my sideskirt got ripped off. It looks like total a$$ now. I'm gonna have words with them tomorrow.

True, true. The guy who sold me the car is into mods and the dealership is fine with me having my intake. In fact, everytime I go there I get tons of compliments on my kit and everything. But I do know what you're saying. One of the mechanics looked at my intake like it was off of a spaceship or something. I felt sorry for the guy, I don't think he had a clue what it was. I guess the only thing stopping me from hiding performance mods is the fact that if something major does go wrong, they have to have proof that it was something I did before they push the bill on me. And if it turns out it was my mods, well then it is my fault. Thanks for the post.

Well, what was causing the rattle??? because my car rattles around that same area. But I think my is the glove box handle. Becuase I tried taping it tight, and the rattle stops. BUT IT CAME BACK AFTER LIKE 10 MINTES OF DRIVING.

Hey,
There is a TSB to fix glove compartment rattling (also, other misc. rattles). Toyota knows about that stuff, they just don't want to waste their time fixing that stuff. I'm pretty sure you can just take them a TSB copy, throw it in their face and it will be fixed.

Thanks for the info, but where did you find this particular TSB. I searched the website and found tons of rattle TSB's but none dealing with the glove box. I'd love to slap that sh*t in the mechanics face and tell him to do his job. These are the same mechanics that told me they've never heard of a problem with the belt tensioner for our cars. I hate my dealership.

Yup...I've got the same thing!
Anytime I'm above 3000rpm I hear the rattles!

A week ago I told them to check it while doing my 15000 tune up but they didn't fix anything.

Me too...but it's not the glove box. I removed the glove box and still hear it. I think it's somewhere in the fan housing.

Well I'm going to find it eventually. It's way too loud to ignore. I'll tear out the whole passenger side one bit at a time if I have to.

I'm going to try to remove the fan next.

THe noise is most likely from the AC lines going into the cabin. They tend to vibrate against each other and cause a rattling noise. They're somewhere behind the glovebox by the firewall.

I've heard you should be able to wiggle them into a position where they won't hit each other. Might also be able to just stick some rubber or foam in between them, as well.
