Hi everyone! I've been driving a 94 honda accord lx for the past 3 years with the basic boltons, I/H/E gutted cat and a nice audio video setup. The time has finally come to retire the vehicle as its becoming too much of a pain to maintain and quite frankly I need to get rid of the automatic 4 door for something a little more sporty! After much deliberation between and rsx and and celica I decided to go for the Celica. Now for my issues, I need to find one between 6-7.5k thats just my budget right now, as of right now I have only found GT's for this price. I'm pretty sure im ok with a GT lol but I'm really afraid if i get one i will be wanting more. can anyone give me some guidance?

Welcome to the community! Good choice with the Celica, I own a GT and it's amazing. I don't know the price range for Celica's in the US, but if you have the possibility, go with the GTS, you won't be disappointed... Enjoy! ;)

Get the GTS !!!! I got mine for $6900 but its got like 90k and a broken lift bolt plus it needed new tires. If u like performance, definitely search for a 6 speed GTS in your price range or u'll regret it later. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the Celica World!
As far as i've heard, the GT is slow, and everyone who gets it wishes they had saved for the GTS... get a gts =D
Either way you will probably be happy though

Get a manual 2000-2001 GT-S for the higher rev-limit. It's a really fun car drive if you realize what it's for. You're not going to be running 12 second 1/4's in this thing, toyota forgot to put any sort of torque in the celica...but i love driving curvy roads with mine. One of the best handling cars i've driven.
GT-S also gives you lift (not available without a 2zz engine swap in GT), which is pretty much the only way you're going to keep up with any other car as far as speed.

Thanks for the replies...Yea i was afraid you guys were going to say I'd regret it if I got the GT...I just need a car asap considering the accord is dying. Anything to look for in paticular when looking at used Celicas to be cautious of?

Welcome to the forum.
Just keep looking and you should be able to find a 2000 or 2001 GT-S 6 speed in your price range. I would try and find one that is stock just because it probably has not been abused or at least as bad. When looking just make sure to take the GT-S up to the redline so you feel lift kick in. The lift should kick in around 6200 rmps and you will hear and feel it. If the lift doesn't work it probably has broken lift bolts(common problem on 00-02 GT-S with older style lift bolts but can be replaced with new style bolts that are better) and they will need to be changed. Other than that just look for the same things you would check on any used car. Good luck on your hunt man.
