Okay here's my situation. I was shifting to third, but I didn't get it all the way into gear, so I over reved to the point that the needle on my rpm gauge jumped to the beginning of the redline. It barely reached it. But Im scared, is there anything to worry about? I didn't hurt my engine ...did I?

Note: I have a 2002 GT-5 Speed. Please help, I need a response. Im afraid to drive it now. Everything seems to be running okay. Im just a bit scared

Don't worry, it didn't hurt anything. You can go right up to redline and not have a problem. 99% of 6-speed GT-S owners here do this multiple times every day. You can even bounce off the rev limiter (at or slightly after redline) and still be safe, though it won't feel very comfortable. The limiter is there to protect your engine from over-revving.

The only way it would've hurt your car is if you were going like 80 and downshifted into 2nd and released the clutch (aka misshift). The wheels would pull the engine way beyond the rev limiter, causing internal engine damage (and possibly transmission and clutch problems as well). The limiter only cuts off the gas to stop the revs from going beyond redline.
