I did do a search so dont flame the newbie, I was curious if anyone made a gated shifter for our cars. I searched the net and here and some other sites, but cant find anything. My next step is to call some tuner shops here in Denver and see if they can help but who better to ask that the owners of our cars. Thanks.

Oh yeah, I have an 02 GTS with a 6 spd.

It has been discussed before but I don't know of anyone who actually manufactures one for the Celica. Sorry.

One major impediment to adding gates is that the shift positions are so close together. Think about it: If the shift lever itself is wider than the spacing between shift gates, then theres no room to put anything else there. I haven't checked this with a ruler or anything, but I suspect it is true in the Celica GT-S.

OTOH, this may not be a problem with the 2002's wider shift pattern.

The problem isn't just spacing - you have a cable driven system here with a good number of linkages and pivots so there is naturally some give and play - gating the shifter visibly could make it hard to get into gear.
