Is there a way to make the factory alarm/keyless entry system go silent, so that when I lock/unlock the car it doesn't beep?

I looked around for the answer, but only found stuff about how to make the alarm passive or whatever...I have a 2001 GT-S.

Thanks in advance,
-Dana

The factory Toyota RS-3200 VIP alarm has a small "speaker", under the hood, near the Engine Room Junction block. It is a small cylinder with a red and black wire.

Those wires may be cut and insulated to disable the sound from arming, disarming and attempting to arm with a door open.

Mine beeps the horn when I arm/disarm the alarm. Did they change this after the 2000 model? Ther is also no reason to cut any wires to disable the beeps. I forgot the process but it is in the alarm manual that comes witht he car.

My friend has a GT, and his horn honks on lock/unlock too, but mine beeps. I don't want to cut wires, because I like the idea of being able to go from sound to no sound without having to splice wires everytime.

I don't have a manual with mine (was is speparate from the Celica manual?) Also, there is no valet switch or button to the left of the steering wheel incase someone is going to suggest that method.

Any other ideas?

Can you find a valetswitch/button anywhere? My car has one and that is what you use in conjunction with turning the key to ACC to turn the beeps on and off.

the factory vip 3200 or whatever doesn't have this functionality... you gotta cut the wire..
