we never got this car in America

from what I know of it, its a FWD Mitsubishi. That's two strikes already.

Its a decent car,

FWD = Front Wheel Drive, meaning no you wont be able to drift it. ITs not anything fast either, but its not lifeless. Good economy not sure about maintance

Hey is that ur celica in your signiture, if so could u post some pics of it?

lol that is not my car but i can put a bigger pic.. is a celica in a car show.. lol anyway i dont need anything fast... just worried bout maintainence.. since im just a college student.. lol

FWD = reduced straight line acceleration and at the limit understeer, not always a bad thing - I personally don't mind FWD around town - its not something I like for performance driving though.

Mitsubishi = unreliable garbage

i doubt you'll be able to increase the MPG above the factory specs, but simple things like keeping your engine clean (seafoam), keeping tires at optimum PSI, keeping wheels balanced, etc. will keep you at peak MPG.

oh, and the biggest thing to get higher MPG is simply not driving it hard. keeping a light foot on the gas will save you the most money.

wow tnx,..

keeping your engine clean (seafoam)... does that cost much?? and how do i do it..?

by the way nice info.. at least i learn something new..

here it costs about 5 bucks a bottle, which is all i use each time (once every 15,000 miles or so) and it's not hard at all. there's a guide on this site on how to do it for the celica, which i know isn't the FTO, but it'll give you a general idea of what you'd need to do.

i found the treat

Well, i did mine on my gts w/ 68000 miles (at the time) and i noticed it running a little smoother. As for a guide, you could look in the install section, there is a good tutorial on how to do it (what i used)

Do to it right you'll need 2 cans and full tank of gas. put half the can in the top, turn the car on and watch it smoke. the other half you let suck up through the vacuum off the IM, and i put the entire second bottle in my gas tank.

I just did it on my new engine just because i was curious how "new" it was, and was surprised to see absolutely nothing come out of the exhaust.

(well put seafoam into gas tank?? will it cause problem since seafoam mix with gas.?)

i've never used 2 cans and it seems to be fine, but it all depends on the user i guess.

anyway, there won't be any problems mixing the seafoam with the gas, just make sure you have at least half a tank.

oh, and remember to change your oil after about 500 miles of driving from when you put the seafoam in

Weird tranny + Mitsu = stay away.

First of all...... Read more about cars... I mean... your questions are worse than the ones I had when I started!!! (And that is difficult to achieve!)
If you don't even know what FWD is... you are screwed....

Now, all this takes me to my second and more important point:

Since it looks like you are a newbie (a big one) let me tell you that IF THE CAR YOU ARE TRYING TO BUY IS SUPPOSED TO BE SHIPPED TO YOU, IT IS A SCAM!!!

That car never came to the US. which means that somebody is trying to sell it to you "overseas" (Im guessing here)
If I'm right, just don't do it!

If the car is here, and you can see it, then buy it (depending on price and conditions)

alantjw
11-07-2007, 06:54 AM
erm im not in us im in malaysia.. im buying it localy.. and most cars in my country are FWD... and most of the local cars here are using mitsu engine.. well should be able to get parts then... and certain people says mitsu have the most durability.

We never got the FTO here, but it is a good looking car - kind of like a baby 3000GT. I assume itys the same FWD V6 powerplant from the NA 3000GT which is an OK motor. Nothign great and they do have a few maintenance problems IIRC

Mitsu engines are fine (most are workhorses) but their transmissions can be really bad. I would watch out, that's all I'm saying.

As far as I know the 1995 and up FTO had the 2.0L V6 MIVEC screamer engine(8K rpm), not the 3.0L one. There have been reported problems with big ends, headgaskets and miscellaneous oil leaks. Dunno how rare parts are for the 2.0L even in Malaysia.

kk then now i think i better not get one then...

Zenith

The FTO GPX comes with a v6 2.0L MIVEC engine that achieves 200bhp at 7500rpm . With a manual transmission it typically gets about 14.8-15.1 1/4 mile times depending on driver. It wasn't plagued by ussual mistu problems either and has a good reputation. There isn't much of an an aftermarket for it and it is FWD. FWD is a preference and for most people and some cases better than MR, RWD, AWD/4WD, typically based on driver skill and conditions it'll be driven in. It also supposidly handles really well. As to mpg, I've heard it qouted anywhere from mid-high 20's to low 30's. In the end this is all second hand knowledge that I learned and vaguely recall from when I was trying to import one. I've never driven one and only have rather extensive past research to go from. If you use an internet search engine such as google.com you should be able to come up with a good bit of information yourself and be able to make your own conclusions. Good luck and drive safe.

if you're looking for not expensive and reliable, a civic is the way to go.

lose weight

light weight wheels/low friction tire
overinflate the tires slightly
adjust your driving style
tune up - plugs/wires/filters
lower weight throughout the car - remove floormats, spare tire, rear seats, carbon fiber bits, lightweight sports seats - of course you have diminishing returns on the costs of most of this

lol i mean the non hatch back civic.. is a 4 door.. and i love 2 door cars but is still over my budget.. so i think i stick with 4 doors 1st and when i plan to add in lambo doors then i should make it to 2 doors... lambo doors looks weired on 4 door cars..

lol you are retarded for thinking that it is real. You can tell or at least i can that it is a 3d model / photoshop rendered into a background. It is not even done well look at the door panel that is on the door that is open, that is not a celica door panel. Plus the rear area around the convertible opening and style bar are from a mustang. And everything is way too glossy and overdone for it to be real, i know because i use photoshop all the time, its not real, sorry.
