umm, i'm new to the celica world. i have a 2000 gt
my celica automatically turns on its daytime lights in the day, and lowbeams at night. what is strange to me is that i have my lowbeam switch off at night, but the lowbeams are still on and i can't turn them off until i turn my car off.
is it normal that this happens?

Totally normal. It has a sensor on the dash that turns them on automatically.

yea thats normal..I hate that the lights are always on if the e-brake is let off. Buts its also a safety feature too..so its not that bad.

Yeah, what they just said, but if you don't want them turning on automatically, just do this simple mod "Disable DRL" (http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?t=128056)

theres a way to change that by cutting one wire. there a thread on it. its under there mid anel where the shifter is. there an ecu harness. pull it out and cut the yellow wire with a green stripe. its better if you want to drive at night with just youre city lights and sidemarkers. i think you save energy to. just look for the thread in the install guide section

Or if u dont wanna go cutting wires, you can have the e-brake one click up before you start the car. I used to do it when I went racing.

If you want to disable it do a search. There is a yellow wire you can cut under the radio that disables both the daytime-running-lights (DRL's) and the auto-on lowbeams at night time.
I did it & now I can manually control my headlights on/off during night.
