I think it's just the fact that you have alot of heat in the car, open both windows for 4-5 mins then use the AC, you'll feel it immediately

i did just that, then turned on the AC, still the same =( its around 90 degrees here right now

Try putting it on fresh air (to push the hot air out the back) and putting your sunroof up (but not back).

Blame it on the R134. R134 is not as good as R12. However R12 is bad for the ozone layer.

I have never recharged the AC in my 91 Camry with R12 and it is colder than my new Camry with R134.

I would have your A/C checked to make sure there are no leaks anywhere. Especially the condensor since it is pretty vulnerable to rocks hitting it. Its ben 95+ degrees here and my A/C is fairly cool after about 5-10 mins. I'm talking about the air coming out of the vents not the time it takes for the whole car to cool down of course.

Good thing to keep in mind to is it is good to run your ac at least 20mins once a week even when you do not need it to lub parts. AC systems if not used for a while won't work as good. Just something I found out from friends that work at AC shops. Get it check out if its not cold.

Thats strange... The AC on my ride seems to cool down the inside of the car if about 5-10 minutes... This is what I do:

5-10 minutes before I leave to go anywhere I start the car and leave my AC on the first notch and thats it when I leave its pretty cool in my car...

I have noticed a few things though... Since I dont have tint... 10 minutes after i pull out it get really hot so I just put the Ac up a notch and there we go nice and cool again... Kepping the temerature at a constant also depends on what time of the day it is... Its really had to cool down the inside of the car at the hottest point of the day but everyone knows that already... Hope that helps...

i turned it on at night, and its real cold, i guess its not cold enuf to handle the 90 degree heat. maybe its the dash or something. but shouldnt a 25k$ car have damn good A/C ? my mom's 10k$ mirage has better a/c then me

mine seems to come on when it wants. i havent used it since last summer and i thought that i might have a conensor problem. but the fact that it does get cold sometime tells me that there is still freon in there. sometimes itll just get really cold then get warm again. sux on those hot days not having ac

From comparing my car with my friend GSR and RSX-S on full blast, it seems that our car A/C does suck a little. When I put my hand up close the A/C of the GSR and RSX, it feel like a freezer and the celica feel like it still on one click but with more air.

I always have this problem and brought it to the dealer to fix it, still the same thing. The dealer say it had to much freon, so they have to take some out in order for the A/C to work. To me, dealer just BS and I don't want to waste my time with them.

I've got nothing but great things to say about our systems....when working properly I guess. Even with 100+ degree days and leather that's burning your ass, the cabin is comfortable in CloNe within just a few minutes, car full closed and recirc on.

R12 is awesome we just recharged my sisters 90 Tercel and that thing puts out 33 degree air. My celica never puts out more than about 43-45 tops.

I am in HVAC (heating ventalation and air conditioning) in the US Air force / Civil engenereing squadron, I have a licence to buy all types of refrigerant, but you cant simply replace the 134A with R-12 You have to swap out the compressor and some hoses ... this is because the oil in the two refrigerants are differant .... if mixed this can cause a acid or just clog your compressor up .. or mess your expansion valve up BIG $$$. Just leave the 134A in there, oh by the way if you work on R-12 you cannot vent it into the atmosphere ... this is why all need a licence now they all eat up the ozone , except 134A. Dont get caught venting refrigerant into the atmospere or OSHA can fine you up to $25,000!!!

No I do not plan on mixing it or retrofitting it into my new car. I need it for my old 91 Camry.

Put some nitro into your A/C system.

Rev the engine may help, or speed up and let the condenser cool down.

I don't usually use my a/c, but when I do, it takes at least 5 minutes to cool down the cabin, but still, it's not as cold as other cars I've been in.

haha, i work with R-12 everyday, heck friday i pick up a $1500 jug of it. You just can't buy it anymore, and it cost around 58 dollars a pound. It works alot better to, but 134a does hurt the enviroment just not as much.

OK i used the fresh air first ... then it cools down quick , after that ill switch to reciculate. It was cold in like 5 min. Not bad on a 92 degree day with 70% humidity .... ICK ... i hate the sticky humidity!:ugh:

Mine gets cold within 2mins... 90+ degree plus +70% humidity here in kansas. I open the windows while driving for a few seconds to get the hot air out first-works like a charm
