Next year I am going to be parking my car in one of the parking lots where I attend college and I don't trust the security around here that much... so what I am wondering is who has had a good experience with a security system on the Celica?

ok then start looking for a clifford system... avantguard 4 you might be able to land it for about 500 on ebay.. still need installation which is another 500... if you do it yourself you'd save money (and you got balls).

if you've never installed an alarm, i don't suggest doin it yourself... it's probably the most complicated alarm to install out there

I'm pretty good with most things electrical but that looks damn fun :) How long did all of that take to install?

my alarm, cuz i did a bunch of other things at the same time took about 3 days
i just installed an avantguard in someone's car on saturday in about 5 hours.
btw... i used to do this for a living

Do you think the clifford avantguard is much better than other alarms like the compustar (www.compustar.org) 2wss suggested above?

yes! ... the compustar has very nice gimmicks but the avantguard is really unchallenged when it comes to no nonsense performance... do a search on google to see the types of vehicles its installed on... you'd be hard pressed to find anything less than 50K that has the alarm in it... which begs the question... is it worth it for you???

yep... i'd stick w/my clifford over the compustar anyday.... if i want paging... i think clifford has that too..
plus the avantguard has more disablement of the vehicle by default w/it's wireless fuel pump kill

If I wanted just a security system from Clifford without the remote start features what would you suggest Russ?

Yeah, I have looked around on their site for a bit. I just need to find a site that compared all of their stuff and the features each of them have. Thanks for all the help!

SO does anyone have the paging system on the Clifford? Is it worth it? Whats the range?
I park in a parking garage thats had some trouble with theft/vandalism, and I'd like to do everything possible to keep this from happening to me again becuase the building management dont give a fock.
