Insurance question related to car being totaled

So if my car is totaled can I part it out and still receive the money from the insurance company or what I don't really know how all of that works. Like my subs are fine and so are most of the wheels i think and my exhaust CAI may be fine Can someone shed some light? thanks......

Usually if the car is declared totalled you can buy it back for a small amount like $500 and do whatever you want while still receiving a check for it.

yeah, here in michigan it's like 100 in some cases, but i think there are varying levels...
