Hello, I just bought a celica and it needs a drop... it has 17" wheels with 40 profile tyres and stock shocks, which I will keep untill they blow out.... they are still in pretty good shape (and im changing them myself so labor cost is not an issue).

The problem is that roads here are crap and I use this as my daily driver... So I was thinking something along the 1.5" drop

And my celi is an ss-ii JDM import and I dont know if its superstrut or not... does it make a difference which springs I use?

So which springs do u guys suggest?

If it is a SS-II it does have the super strut suspension. I'm pretty sure the spring dimensions for the super strut and Mcpherson strut are the same but the SS-II might have a different spring rate. If it were me i'd wait till you have enough money for a bilstein coilover kit they have for the super strut. that way you can adjust it to your liking and keep comfort and performance at a good level. Or just leave it alone, to be honest i've love to have a super strut suspension, even if it were 4X4 hieght i just want to experience what it feels like mid corner going flat out.

Since SS-II parts are super expensive and hard to find, many people in the UK end up doing the mcpherson strut conversion, If you end up doing this would you please let me know, i'd be interested in your parts.

Oh i forgot to answer your main question, I'm sure the TRD springs will work, its about 1.2-1.4 inch drop i think, close to stock ride quality.

try going through the readers rides section, find a car you like and ask that person what kind of drop they have. i've seen a car with the TRD springs and it looked good, stock wheels or not. decent drop with good suspension travel.

is this different than the bilstein pss system offered for us ordinary stateside gts owners?

it uses a linear spring instead of the progressive set up we have with the standard PSS, so it probably has different valving to match.

Hey Kim. I noticed you were talking to Richard Jung. I hope he was able to help you.

i believe Tanabe's NF and GF series springs both have exactly 1.5" drop. just different spring rates. NF for normal feel and GF for grip feel. i'm also looking for springs for my SS1.

what's the diff in the stock spring/shocks between ss1 and ss2?

anyone used the above springs before?

also what about Espelir springs? these are the few cheapest springs that i could find..

This is Celica 2nr's GT-S dropped on TRD springs. It has the stock 16" wheels but you can get an idea of what it will look like with 17s.

Thanks man... that gave me a good idea of how it would look...

i need to find a pic where the car has no spoilers and no kit with TRD springs and preferibly 17" wheels...

thanks for the replies so far!
