Just today four kids were arrested after a traffic stop for driving without plates. One kid tried to flee, the other three tried to stop the officers. I can't believe that anyone would do that... So long as my record is clean, why would I screw it up with an obstruction of justice charge? People are foolish and gutsy. I doubt the officers showed up at their parents' porches saying "now, i'll let you off this time cause I know your daddy's gonna punish you enough".

HA. it really is a horrible place, though. one of the local news stations has been running a string of stories about parents who spy on their kids and the atrocious things they managed to find out. Using GPS on their kids' phones, installing a camera to spy on their kids' driving habits... I shudder to think what it might inspire, on both sides of the issue.

seriously, though. I'm just propagating the stereotype. If citizens can't be relied on to comply with the laws, then they need to be persuaded to somehow. You can't water-board someone until their actually in custody, so scare them ****less ahead of time.
