10,000 miles is the standard. Although I doubt 8,300 would hurt it, I'd wait just to be safe.

Why 10k miles? That makes no sense to me. Once your piston rings are seated you should be able to switch to synthetic. Which is probably around 1k miles at most. I'm planning to switch to synthetic after I break in this new block... almost 1k miles on it now.
Definitely agree with Joe here. Once the rings are seated then I would get on synthetic immediately. I think the rings on a Celica pretty much seat in the first few miles. I got my GTS with 8 miles on it, monitored the oil level EXTREMELY close for the first 1k miles, and the level never even budged. This means the engine specs are tight from the factory, and not a lot of ring seating has to take place. (you will burn a small amount of oil until the rings seat) Why take the chance of NOT running synthetic UNTIL 10k?

The only downside of synthetic oil is that you can't break an engine in with it. The piston rings won't seat because synthetic lubricates so well. I believe it's a great testament for how great synthetic oil is! But once they are seated you can go with synthetic.
