recently installed a set of HID headlights, worked perfectly fine for about two months, but last week the passenger side headlight stopped working, i don't think it would be the bulb, so I the first thing I checked was the fuse, and I found the fuse was blown. I went to buy some new 10A fuses to put in, but as soon as i turn on the headlight, it blows the fuses again, so at the end three of the five fuses i bought were blown. There has to be something else that is wrong. What should I do?

Might want to swap ballasts and see if the problem follows the passenger ballast.

Are the HIDs powered directly off the stock headlight wiring? If so, you may want to get a wiring kit to directly power them off of the battery. They draw a ton of power on startup, so they may continue to blow fuses using the stock wiring.

but it was working ok for the past two months...i don't really want to go into any hassle of running new wiring, it sounds pretty complicated?

if it is the ballast, does it mean I need to get a new one?

thanks

The high startup voltage might have taken its toll on your wiring, making it impossible to use an HID ballast there. The wiring is a piece of cake, and is fitted for your specific connectors. It just plugs directly into the OEM sockets for a signal, and uses a ring terminal to basically bolt directly to the battery for the power. The rest is just securing wires on both sides of the engine bay. SUVLights.com has them, along with other places on the net.

If the ballast is causing the problem, you might need a new one, but it may just be cheaper to get the wiring and see if that's the problem. In any case, the wiring will allow the HIDs to get full power when starting up, and provide them with constant power, which is better for their longevity (power spikes reduce it).
