would you be able to put 1.5 inch lowering springs on the factory struts?

Yes you are able to, but will the strut OEM strut handle it. I just installed Tein S-Techs with a 1.4 drop on factory struts. It should be allright for awhile, but if I was going to do it all over again, I woulda saved for some sport struts as well so I wouldn't have to change the struts in the future.

You would be wise to do struts and springs at the same time.

I did the 2.5 inch Tanabe springs with Tokico struts. My factory struts were not up to par anyway.

I've experienced no problems with my stock struts/shocks. I've had my Tein S.techs on for about 45K + miles. I had them installed at about 45,000miles.

If you put aftermarket springs on your OEM shocks they will have accelerated wear and blow out sooner than usual.

tokicos are fine

i put the tanabe 2.5" drop springs on my stock struts and they lasted almost a year before they blew

someone is selling brand new front and rear struts (kyb+agx)
in the socal classified section for super cheap

^ LOL That's a sign that Tokicos are NOT fine. They lasted you only a year man.

He was saying his stock struts lasted a year on the Tanabe springs before he replaced the stock struts with the Tokicos.

Even still, the same thing would happen with the Tokico HPs (Blue's). They're pretty well known for not being valved for the marginal springrate increase of most aftermarket springs (even the "mild" Eibach Pro-Kits).

Most people would gripe about having a shock that's preset for a balance of street comfort and performance enhancing. But the honest truth is that those are barely marginal increases. To get anything more than "just a tiny bit" would need adjustability.
