Well... here's the deal.
My 2001 GT-S has side impact airbags in the seats, and I am going to be replacing them with Sparco Torino's. I called around today to several different dealers and they told me stories ranging from the entire Airbag system being disabled, to only the seat section being disabled (duh), to not sure. So I called Toyota directly.
Toyota's offical response on this is that it is not a recommended modification and therefore they will not and cannot give me any information on whether or not it will disable the entire system. I called bull**** on this and said that I am not making any modifications other than removing seats, and that does not require cutting any wires or anything. I basically made a stink about it over the phone and the representative said hold on. She talked with a tech and said that removing the seats will throw an error in the ECU and "COULD" cause the system to malfunction, or the system "COULD" still work, there were no definate answers. So I just figured you all might like to know what I've found. If you have any other responses or comments or even experience please post up, cuz I am sure others are concerned about this as well.
