Hi guys

as im driving down, the crack starts growing and moves laterally from drivers side to passanger side
i now have a HUGE crack on my winshield, about 2.5 feet in total length
anyone know what i should expect to pay?
my deduct is 500, so it looks like im screwed anyways

So do I, but with all the broken windshields in Colorado (you should see what they put on the roads in the wintertime), many policies have separate window coverage.
In short, check out your policy to see what if anything they can do for you. If they can't help, talk to a reputable windshield replacement shop and ask for a non-insurance paid quote.
As for repairs, generally a chip or star bigger than a quarter can't be fixed, and cracks longer than 2-3" can't be fixed. At least that's what I've been told by my insurance company.
Good luck!

Where do you think the rock came from? Did a car in front of you kick one up off the road? I got lucky one time (if you wanna call it that) when a big truck with the huge tires kicked up a big rock and it landed right to the left of my winshield on the paint. Left a really bad paint chip though. :(

... I guess the laws are different in Cali than they are in FL. Here we don't have to pay to have our windshield replaced if it gets damaged enuff to need replacing. Our insurance is obligated to replace the damaged windshield (upon an adjuster's approval of course) without any $$ out of pocket from the policy holder.

I would check into it. I have a $500 deductable, but they only make me pay a $50 deductable on a broken windshield. Just call your insurance company.......
ditto, check with your insurance company.

Where do you live? You might want to look into this. In Fl if our windshield gets cracked - it has to be a substantial crack - then it will be replaced for free. But I believe that the insurance company will only do this once for you. Thats how my insurance does it. I get one replacement in MY lifetime, not the cars.

i just called 21st century insurance, and its not covered under their policy, no one time thing or anything
if its a small crack, then they'll repair it, but if it need to be replaced, they go straight to my deduct
i guess i have to get it replaced, its illegal and unsafe to drive with a damage like this

Well, I think that is complete bull****. Do you have a copy of your insurance policy? It might say something in there.
