I've noticed this problem over the last month or so.

My car is a 2002 Celica GT with ~115k miles. When I make strong turns, I hear a ticking sound. By strong I mean that I am turning the wheel more that 90 degrees in that direction. It seems to be more noticeable when I turn right, but it does happen on left turns as well. Also, it seems to be more prevalent when the car is cold, but once it gets warmed up, it slowly dies down but is still there. The ticking seems to be stronger when I am taking off from a stop while turning. I never hear any ticking when driving in a straight line.

I have been under the card to make sure there is nothing rubbing anywhere. None of the rubber boots on axels or anything are broken. For the most part, everything seems to be in normal shape from looking at it. I am leaning towards a bad CV joint on an axel, but I have not ruled out everything else. Is it time for me to be thinking of replacing them with my amount of miles?

Your alignment is off, or currently in the process of setting off course. I forget what it's actually called.

My Camry had this exact problem. Maybe its with your drive train? Something with your alignment, whatever that is attached to. Wish I could be more mechanically inclined!

CV-joint/axle/rollbearings most likely.

Your outer CV joint is causing the ticking.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I really don't think it is my alignment. Car drives straight and true. Anybody know what a new axle would cost from a dealer or an online parts source?
