I just got a response from automobili lamborghini and they can make custom gated shifters for our cars. I have emailed him back about the approximate price and specs. They do not make the gates themselfs, but they contract a company to do it for them. I dont know exactly how long this would take, but I will keep everyone updated who cares.

Considering where you are getting it from (Lamborghini) it's going to cost a fortune probably. Find out who the supplier is and go through them, otherwise expect them to mark it up like hell.

or just go to a body shop and ask to make a custom gate

I did. Unfortunately, there isnt 1 body shop here in Denver who will do it.

The question is, why do you want one?

Read ANY review of an italian car. The gated shifters are universally hated by the test drivers. Anyone that *drives* cars knows the gated shifters are for people that like to *look* at cars.

I think there are some celicas around already with mentioned item. I saw a picture of it here a while ago.

All manual transmission Celicas currently have a gated shifter.

The shift lever causes two cables to move. One moves as the shift lever travels fore and aft, the other as the lever moves side to side.

These move the shift mechanism, within the transmission, which is gated. It is NOT possible to cause the shift lever to land halfway between the position for gear three and five because of the existing gates.

Now, assume that a second gate is added, at the shift lever. The existing gate and the new gate will "fight" each other. Also, the cam on the transmission may need to change to permit this new, "visual" gate to have fingers between each gear, or the gate may have to be dome shaped, to place it closer to the knob, as it does not appear that there is enough lateral lever movement between R - 1 - 3 and 5.

Thats all fine and dandy, but Im talking about the actualy shift grid like the lambos have that maps out the shift pattern.

Please excuse my prior post.

It was not immediately clear, to me, that this task was understood with such clarity and detail.

Happy shifting.

I could see it, but....the actual gates, in order for it to be noticeable would be mounted a good couple of inches above the pivot.
