so, i've had this palm tx laying around not doing anything or almost a year now, so i started searching on turning it into a gps system. Figured out all i needed was a bluetooth receiver (i got the holux m1000) and the software.
So i got it all working, and i got sick of it not 'fitting' in. So i decided to make my own "dock" in the compartment above the HU. I did a quick 'trial' run today to test some ideas, and to my surprise it worked fine first time. It looks ike complete a$$ right now, but once i get it all sanded and painted, it will look like it belongs. Oh, and i also chose this way so i can remove the palm device if i needed to, and will be making it just a 'snap' in type setup so when its in there, its always charging and take advantage of the other outputs (hu mute, mic in- connect to phone and also screen calls with it).
Anyway, here are some pics. I know it looks like crap, but i got it set up in 30 minutes. Before i did anything really drastic i wanted to make sure it all worked.
Looking at it head on. I was messing around with a vacuum forming idea to make the tray it sits in. So when i get it all sanded down and what not it will be smooth and you'll never know.

A more angled look. It's almost perfect for the driver, because your not looking straight at it so your not blinded, but its in a good spot if you need to change something quick, or type in your destination.

Bluetooth GPS receiver. Right now its being held up with the almighty duct ape. Right now i plan on using a velcro type solution so again, i can remove it and transfer it if i need/want to.

Hopefully i'll be finishing this in the next week or so. But with work and finals, i dont know.
