I am about to use touch up pen on the front bumper rock chips but I know that it will be tough to get the paint exactly on the depression. It might get on the surrounding areas.
Is there something that will safely remove touch up paint overlap and smooth out the paint on the rock chip with the rest of the surface?

The trick is to fill in the chip in a few layers keeping the paint contained in the chip.

Just checked out that site and the product seems like it might be worth ordering.
Do you have it? Have you tried it?

"Use a toothpick"
well that's not so easy using a touch up pen.
With the touch up brush it's do-able but with the pen, It's not possible unless you waste a lot of paint drawing it into a container first and still this is hard.

I recommend you use 3m adhesive, tar, wax remover.
after applying with brush or pen, let it dry for 10-15minutes then follow up by wiping with this spray. It will get rid of all the overlap paint.

Nothing helps bro, believe me.I've tried everything.Best thing is to wait to get more chips and then repaint the bumper. Now it looks much better, stock paint suck!
The guy at work here says he applies with a toothpick or whatever and lets it dry. He then gets a hose and wets the suface down and uses one of those 1000 grit (i guess) sanding cubes you can pick up and lightly sands and wets until it is flat.

I ordered some of that Langka stuff. We'll see how it works.

hey clone the 3m works just as good but here is the real problem.
The chips itself are bumpy because the paint didn't get chipped off clean instead it's been pushed out. That's why i thought it was bug parts. But under close inspection it turn out to be rock damage.
The thing is that no matter what application you use, the surface won't be a flat surface unless use a machine and flattened it out before applying the touch up paint.

I see your point. I'll keep that in mind when I try it out.

For that langka thing, you can buy Mother's brand Paint Chip smoother. It uses the patent of langka and you don't have to order it. I got mine from a local parts store. I haven't tried it yet but i will this week.

How did it go?
I saw a website one time of some guy posting a "how to" on using Langka. Anyone remember the site? I already tried a search on here.

I got Langka last year and I can tell you it absolutley does work as advertised.
The only problem is, if you have metalic paint (my Celica is silver) the langka tends to change the colour of the touch up paint due to the metalic particals. I believe langka discusses this on their site.
So, what I do is use the Langka to eliminate the "blob". Then I add one more thin coat to restore the mnetalic color and shine.

A pen based way of repairing stuff. Works great and you don't have to mess around with seperate tubes of stuff.
