On my old Celica I got used over 150,000 miles, the windshield was scraped really badly from the windshield wipers. I realize this happens when there's dirt on the windshield and the wipers are activated it scrapes the glass....
What's the best way to avoid this, aside from not using them?
I sometimes will wait till I get to gas station to clean the windows if it's on there b adly. Would using the wipers often help to prevent build up? Or what?
Any ideas?

Don't use your wipers when there is little or no water on the glass and replace your blades as necessary.

You don't have to be an ass hole.
Obviously, I was worried because my previously owned car's windshield was pretty badly worn.

Rain-X :shrugs:
Clean your windshield w/BonAmi. Use Rain-X. Get silicone blades.
If all that fails... draft an 18wheeler.... viola... new windshield.
