i have owned a celica gt for almost tow years now. i was wondering how long should it take before i have to change the tires. i work them pretty hard sometimes but they still look okay. if anyone has changed their celica gt factory tires already tell me how long you had your car for when you did it. celica gt only 15inchers please.

You should look at the treading of the tires.

These sites will help you, if you need more info

I have a GTS. I was lazy and kept putting off rotating the tires. I replaced the front ones @ 18,000 miles. The rear ones are still fine for awhile. What is the rule, rotate every 6000 miles?

You were suppose to rotate your tires every 5000miles... well i got 27000miles and okay tread left on them... they were suppose to last 40000 miles... well i am gettin my Falkens anyway...

my stock ones were out the window at 18K .. but i think most of the abuse came in the last month... otherwise they probably would've gone till 25 or so.

One thing to realize about high performance tires that have high grip properties is they wont last as long as "normal" tires.

The way some tires have high milage ratings is by using harder rubber compounds. However, this degrades their grip/performance properties.

I've heard it put this way:

Hold a penny at the bottom with Abe Lincoln's head facing you and at the top. Put the penny between the tread of your tire. If you can see Lincoln's whole head it needs to be replaced. If not, then it has enough tread.

There is also little raised places between the tread. When these are flush with the tread, they need to be replaced.

I'm more paranoid with tires. I'd rather replace my tires prematurely than be left on the side of the road (or in a ditch) with a flat. :D

I may need new tires too but is it really worth it to get bridgeston poleposition 03 over the much cheaper kumo suptra?

how much difference is there in dry weather driving?

i dont know about the khumos but the S03's are really just insane all around tires... really really insane... i cant imagine what stickier tires are like cause these are sticky as hell...

I'm getting a new set this weekend... my stockers are at like almost 17 k miles, i guess that's what i get for tray sliding and "drifitng" so much haha. I'm going with the kumho's cuz they seem to have really good reviews by everyone and they are cheaper and last long er than s03s, but i'm pretty sure if you have a lot of money and yo ujust want performance you shoudl go with the s03s.

I have 23000 miles on my GT stock tires, and think i'll need to replace them for this winter. They are still holding out pretty well, but they suck in bad weather already, so i really want something a bit better for the slush.

I've been two years and haven't replaced them yet. Mine are about half worn. I only have 9k miles though.

Street Tires:
I replaced my Bridgestone RE-92's at around 35,000 miles, got a free set of BFGoodrich HR4's but the stones still had at least 5k left on them.

Race Rubber:
I'll be replacing the Hoosiers I mounted in this May in July.

So Bridgestones can go more than 40,000 miles. Hoosiers about 50 to 60 miles
