Which trim would you choose and why?
I am reading so many different opinions on the internet, and so many different trim names that I got it all messed up...
So I came here for help :D
As far as I know, there are 3 trim levels: RS, IX (SE), MR.
But I have found up to 5 on the internet O.o? RS, XI, SE, Standard, MR.
Thanks :gap:

I'd buy the cheapest one...Put that extra probably 5-15k you saved on the other models and do something with it..
rs - no wing and comes with front/center/rear differentials - you can put a stereo in later, and who needs AC or power windows/locks?

MR for the sake of it being the best trim, and to have a 6 speed. I can't imagine downgrading to a 5 speed now, I've become accustomed to shifting.

The 5sp is arguably better than the 6sp for track.

SE.
The 6 speed has the same gear ratios at the 5 with an extra gear in between 4th and 5th. Not at all worth the money. The MR is not a good buy for the price of the package.
The Bilsteins are nice but they're valved a bit softer than the stock struts and they're more prone to blowout when you up the spring rates.
The SE is clearly the best buy. All the creature comforts of the GSR but lighter wheels and an aluminum roof (the GSR is the only model with a steel roof).
Second best buy is a GSR with no Sun/Sound/Leather package. These were the most sought after before the SE came out.

Really? This is what I have found:
Gear Ratio XI/RS MR
1st 2.79 2.91
2nd 1.95 1.94
3rd 1.44 1.43
4th 1.10 1.10
5th 0.76 0.87
6th 0.69
Not similar at all... And the 5th one is shorter than the 6th one on the MR.
I also saw that at top gear and 7000rpms the XI only gets 147 mph and the MR, since the gear is longer, gets 165 mph....

But we dont have the GSR in the US... do we? So which trim are you talking about?
Thanks Neo, I was waiting for your answer.
Kat.

"GSR" is just slang, technically what I'm talking about is just called the "Lancer Evolution IX" in th US but it's confusing to say in conversation so people just use the foreign model name, the GSR.
I'm not aware of any Evo IX that comes with any sort of steering wheel gauge.

You can buy gauge pods that mount onto your steering column, but those are aftermarket.

That is the one I say. I have seen more than 5 evos with that, so I ended up thinking it was stock...
What do you think about the gear ratios I gave you?

Not really luxury, you just avoid the extreme ghettoness of non painted door handles and roll up windows. And you get to pick from more than 2 colors.

For what I have found so far... some people are trading their IX and RS for MRs at some dealers...
By the way, what is your MPG, Neo? I have heard that people gets less than 16 mpg in the city!!

Dunno guess I gave too much credit believing common sense would lead one to believe the factory wouldn't place a gauge in a car in a such a position that it would stick out and look out of place like that..

I saw so many of them on pictures that I ended up thinking that they might come with a package or something.
And if you are talking about the design when you talk about common sense.... come on! Are you going to tell me that the gauge I posted is the worst or most out of place??

I would just be happy to be able to buy any kind of Evo at all
the MR is just pure sex on wheels

The MR looks exactly the same with slightly worse looking wheels and an MR badge. Aside from badging the GSR and the MR are cosmetically identical except 2 small indentations in the aluminum roof of the MR.
I'm unaware of anyone taking back a GSR for and RS. Trading one for an MR seems idiotic unless you really, really want the 6 speed, most people tend to want the 5 speed.
KAT_Ayanami

, most people tend to want the 5 speed.
Why?
And I think the MR has the "vortex" as an aesthetic difference as well as well as the aluminum roof and different suspension...

Oh yeah, that stupid porcupine thing. that's actually an option on the GSR. one more reason not to own an MR, it's standard.
The 5 speed is a bit stronger than the 6 speed.
