In the latest Option2 mag there is a guy in Japan with the common boltons and an upgraded computer running 9000 rpm and apears not to be having problems. Just thought i would thruogh that out there.

This should be moved to Performance Mods....this is a must do. All of us have been trying to get past 8300rpm (7800rpm for '02) barrier for a while.....we need someone here in the states to take our car serious....I need that 9000rpm limit....it makes or breaks this car.....we need to push this......

If you look at the dyno runs, just about all the cars with i/e mods are making about the same power if not more at 8000 rpms than at 7000.

I have total faith in the 2zz engine.......its just out here tuners are more honda biased which I understand because honda is one of the more dominate contenders out here in the us. We just have to be patient.

The power peak for a GT-S stock is 7600 rpm! So we have 200 rpm past the peak to reach redline. But the power curve doesn't drop off that quickly after the peak, so there's still lots of power at 8300 rpm when the limiter hits on the older cars.

That's not the real point, though. The problem is the gearing and the narrow power band. Using the 7800rpm redline, the Celica only has an 1800rev power band. With the gearing like it is, it's hard to keep the car on the high lift cams during 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. A few more rpm at the top of the rev band would make a shift to stay on the cam easier, without having to abuse the tranny or clutch by shifting too fast.
If the long term durability wouldn't be adversely affected, I'd be interested in raised rev limit, too...

The Japanese (and other?) spec "GT-S" does go to 9K stock...

Trial is taking a GTS head to head with a Type R (New RSX but better). Top Fuel is tunning the Type R. looks like they are going all out. Stock the Type R beet the Celi by like 4 sec. on the Track(road coarse) In the article it shows both cars broke down shot gun style. Trial appears building the celi with there stroke kit, but they mentioned the Blitz super charger in the article also. Cant read all of it but I am watching closely.

ok for some reason my scanner is being ghey. i'll read the parts list he has....

ENGINE & DRIVETRAIN:
HKS. FCON V PRO, Super power flow original muffler, TRD Fly wheel, 1.5 way LSD and ect.

SUSPENSION &TIRE & WHEELS:
Tein HA damper, rubics pad??(dunno), Front and Rear Potenza RE540S (205/50/16)

Another translation in the page:
Only with the FCON V PRO settings he was able to make his car red line up to 9000rpm with no stress on the engine.

Apex-i has released a power FC for the 2ZZ-GE. It is a replacemt (programable) ecu designed for the Celica. Somebody on this board had one installed like 8 months ago in Aus. The ECU is not available in the U.S. Would anyone be willing to be a guinea pig and drop about 1500 dollars on an ecu to try it in the states?

This may be problematic - Australia has just about NO emissions whatsoever - there may be some incompatibility / inability to be street legal. - Just a heads up.

I wonder if that's skin cancer. Not as many people and more apt to be out in the sun a lot would make a huge difference. Not necessarily at all related to the ozone :)

2 probs w/that...
-the jdm and aussie celi's don't have obd II, so the powerfc may not work
-it's all in japanese... gotta find someone to tune that bad boy

Ok, jet chip will not do crud for the rev limiter, and I really don't care about emmison, as much as i care about 9000 rpm, on my auto.

Does anybody know if those front bumper lights fit our "US-spec" cars? I've always wondered that. It kinda looks like a little arrowhead. I know I would be interested in buying a pair of those if they could fit our cars.

at least that guy posing in front of the white celica can hit 9000.

and the about the driving lights notice he has no stock fogs but in place is a duct leading to his intake and i am pretty sure those lights will fit any car being that they are after market. and like most driving lights there they are most likely blue.

No, not the fog lights, I'm talking about the side marker lights. The one that looks like a little arrowhead. I want to know if those japanese spec side marker lights will fit our cars, so it can give it that "JDM" look so to speak.
