View Full Version : Inner tie rod replacement

I hit a curb and bent my inner and outer tie rod along with many other stuff. I got everything apart, except I cannot disassemble the inner tie rod to the steering rack. It's very tight and I don't have much grip (only two flat spots, no hex-shaped nut or things like that).
Help?
Pickle fork is what the tool you need is called.

you either need an inner tie rod tool or a very big wrench

There is a locking tab on those two flats.
Their SST looks like a Ford wrench. I don't know what a pickle wrench is, but I think that might be used on the outer end.
The torque value isn't that high. It's only 83 foot-lbs. Since you are replacing it, use a pipe wrench if you need the leverage.
