For 2001 toyota celica gts.

I borrowed these pictures but the length of the springs are almost identical.
as you can see the lowering spring is a lot shorter than the stock that
should drop the car at the specification rear 2.4 inches drop.

But after I installed the springs, I noticed that the gap was more than before. The car is taller. I doesn't make any sense to me because this should drop the car. My lowering springs drops at 2.0front/2.4rear as it says in the information.Has anyone in hear experience this before? The eiback sportline is 1.8front and 2.25rear. almost the same.So what the hell is going on?Weird. :AF:

what do you mean it's not settel in yet? Any car that has lowering spring installed and the car should drop right away. I remember doing that on my 93 celica. But this 2001 celica I just don't get it. I was pushing my shocks up and down to check the pressure it was easy to push it and out. I even went in the back of the car and jumping up and down to see if the car will go down. But it didn't lols. It makes me go crazy right now. I'm so confused all this. This is the place where I got the springs..

did you cut the rubber in half that is connected on the shocks? that may be holding up the car to go lower..

I saw a yellow rubber foam inside it's like more than 2.0inches in length or so. And there's also a washer inside it. do you want me to remove the rubber foam but leave the washer inside? did you remore the foam when you installed yours?
I don't want to go back and start working on it and it don't even go down. lols I might have to hire a fat lady jump up and down in the back of my car lols..

Yes I'm using a stock shocks/struts on my 2001 celica gts. The lowering springs I was talking about is new aftermarket parts.I think the problem was that I didn't let the car settle (leave it away) so It'll go down for some time. I remember I returned my stock springs back it was really high. Then couple hours later it went down to its original height. I guess I'll install it again tomorrow morning and leave it alone I hope it will go down.

Do not remove the bump stop, you can cut it if you like though.

Try to get underneath the car and take a few pics of the struts installed.

The problem is that I didn't take pictures. lols. Right now I put it back to stock. I'm planning to go again tomorrow and install the lowering springs. I checked "Larryd" stickys in the installation section that's exactly how I installed mine. I have experience I have done it before.I just don't get it why it doesn't go down right away.I was looking at the rubber or foam and thinking that maybe that was the problem not removing it or trimming it. But I'm not sure that's why I'm asking if anyone in here has done it. I'll take some pics tomorrow.

I just took this pic. the orange line is what I really expected for the spring to go down. but it was higher than the stock. I looked at it for 30 seconds then I returned it back to stock.lol

Is is possible that you installed the front springs in the back, and the back ones in the front?

I don't even know if it's possible, but you never know.

I don't make that kind of mistake. You know why front and rear springs are different sizes. Front is bigger and rear is smaller. When I installed the rear lowering springs, the molding of the struts upper part and lower part fitted perfectly. If I put the lowering front springs to the rear, you'll know there's something wrong cuz it's so damn big and it will be loose. lols small feet with big shoes imagine that? lols. Anyways tomorrow I'm going to try the front struts I hope it'll go down.

Yes, I realize that the springs are very different sizes, I have done this install a few times.

As for the bump stop, that just prevents the strut from bottoming out, has nothing to do with ride height.

It takes time for the spring to settle down. As of right now it looks a lot lower which I'm happy with the results. I didn't use any power tools everything was done manually and now my body is aching like hell. Finally I got the low profile looks on my 01 celica gts woo hoo....!!!! Now it's time to relax think what's going to be the next project.....

Right now my car is lower than those pictures I posted. I guess the spring rate's pretty good. Some springs take a lot longer and some don't, different brands, different rates. But I'm happy the way it looks.

Ebay. dropzone, total $80 with shipping. it feels just like eibach sportline. It's pretty good I just have to be careful on the bumps and pot holes, it's common sense.I might get new shocks after nine months or so if I see the car saging.

I made a mistake the rear springs actually drop at 2.0inches not 2.4. THe rear looks a bit higher I kind of don't like it. Darn. I might buy skunk2 or sportline. yours drop at 2.25 at the rear and 2.0 in front?

The Skunk2 springs drop the car 2.25" front and 2.5" rear. I posted up more pics for Swyn in the Skunk2 thread so check them out to see the drop better.

Since I have 16 inch rims I was wondering if I put 18inch will fill in the gap? When you had the 16inch rims in your car, did you have any gap like I have? But when you put the 18inch rims, will the gap narrow or going to close in?

The fender gap was pretty much the same with my OEM 16" wheels.

If the wheel/tire is the same diameter then the gap won't change. So for instance my tires now are 225/40/18 and I changed them to 215/35/18 my fender gap would increase because of the smaller tire.
