im 18, i know what insurance is going to be like especially in Canada(for some reason mine on a rando car is 4k, my american friend has a 1.8t jetta for 1.5k...)
im expecting around 4500-5k a year insurance, thats not the problem, i work hard and a lot of hours and just got a management position at a restaurant i work at.
all i would like to know about is what u think of the price for what im getting, and yea i know it takes premium gas, in Litres its only like 5$ extra a tank.

I think that's a good deal as long as you don't replace the engine or transmission otherwise that's a lot of work. I've seen some 350z for 15K had about 88k miles on it. Only problem was rear ended but it was fix. I wanted to buy that but it's two seater only and I can't slide my chair back so I can relax, plus ride is very stiff but a lot of power. You know why the seats are at the center of the car to be exact? It's for balance when you cornering and the weight is perfect.I saw it on tv they showed the making of the 350z and stuff. I bet you'll be drifting damn I envy you. lols Anyways I got me a celica gts instead. it's great on gas I get around 34-35 mpg. 350z is only 21 or 22mpg. But not bad for a v6 almost 300hp. Well goodluck post some pics too when you get it?

will do, my dad is all for it, my mom is being the responsible car nazi lol
no i wont be drifting on reg streets lol and not unless i get some serious help lol.
im gonna baby it:)
i wanted a celica for the longest time then a couple of my friends bought them, i want something original and i mean, i have only seen 3-4 of these in niagara falls and they were stock soo....

is your uncle going to help you fix it for cheap or is he just going with you to determine if car is worth buying and fixing. 9000 sounds great but it depends on whats wrong with car. could be a lot of headaches.but good luck anyways.350's are nice

I'm saying that besides the obvious collision damage, you can't tell what else is really wrong with the car because you can't drive it (or even start it possibly).
With 100k miles on a car, or even with any used car I would want to buy, I would definitely want to test drive it and run some diagnostic tests on it to see if anything is wrong with the engine, transmission, or anything else for that matter.
And does it have a salvage title?
Some insurance companies would be reluctant to give you comprehensive coverage on a car with a salvage title.

uncle is going to look at it and see what he thinks it needs, he has a frame straightener, he fixed my dads car back in the day and it was a mess. So if it doesnt need too much he can do it for me.

it does have a salvage title and i talked to the guy on the phone, he says it runs beautifuly, ill have to go see it obviously and ill brg it to a shop to get the to estimate dmg on it as well for the 50-100$ or w.e. it is around here

lol sure thing. Its probably different then where you are, and not the restaurant ur thinking of, they call them managers u prolly call them supervisors, basically once the "Senior Managers and GM" leaves for the night, im in charge....
but thats besides the point.

I would NOT buy it.
You can find better deals with cars that are still running...
Are you thinking about fixing just the bodykit? who knows what else on the engine bay is messed up!
The title is salvaged, you are going to pay a lot in many places like insurance and repairs.
You are from Canada, you are going to "Love" driving this 3200 pounds, rwd car on the snow.
I would definitely look for something else. I have a Z and I love it, but not when it rains/snows.
But that is just me ;)
ik3vini
01-14-2008, 07:37 AM
lol no i dont plan on fixing just the body, and who says its goin to see the snow, i got my pontiac g5 for that:)
and dont say money is an issue, this is the only thing i really have to pay for, parents cover the other car's insurance and everything because its for school and what not.
also, i just got off the phone with the guy a little while ago, it is not "registered" as a salvage title, apparently it was just in an accident and not written off. Meaning insurance won't say anything about it being a salvage, talked to my insurance company as well, they quoted me 3900 a year which is about 1000 cheap than i expected.
Thanks for your concerns on the snow conditions as well, but i mean, we had one snowfall this year, and the roads have been DRY and i mean dry ever since.

Why would you pay $10.5K plus tax for a 350z with a salvage title and high miles?
There is a lot more wrong with it, otherwise a dealership would slap a kit and headlights on and sell it. It could have frame damage blah blah and a ton more.
Salvage= not worth it.

ok kid - you know EVERYTHING, don't bother listening to people who have been there and done that - we're only trying to save you the trouble
you've got to live it and learn it before you realize the reality of things - then you can come back and man up that you made a mistake (that is, if you're man enough)
so, since you've set your mind on the salvaged Z, go to town kiddo.

You must not give a crap about money or your spoiled and your parents don't. You could get a perfectly good Z used for 15-20k. Why not just do that? Why waste time and your families money repairing something that was salvaged? More importantly is it just you or does canada have some crazy insurance rates.

id say come stateside you can probably find a better car at a public auto auction for less but good luck either way. unless labor is going to be free or near free you would save money just looking for a high mileage example for sale that is not wrecked. ive seen 350z in my area for 14k 100k miles and room to negotiate id say keep looking unless you have a cheap way to get her goin. check book value in your location and im sure your uncle will be able to decide if its a good idea or not

c) **** you im not spoiled, i've been saving the money for a while, if i wanted a celica, i would buy one, i dont rlly want one ne more, ive seen the ones my friends have, not really my cup of tea nemore.
This is the reason i don't use these forums nemore, soon as someone doesnt listen to one thing you say, u guys get ur panties in a knot and lose it. My insurance company checked the vin number, its got a clean title but was just in an accident.
But im open to w.e. comments u have left. and yes our insurance rates in canada are ****ed up, 329$ a month for me which is 3900 a year.

b.)Never said you were spoiled, didn't realize you were paying for it, my bad. And for the last part yes the car is bad, for christs sake it was SALVAGED!!!!
And I agree with Neological on this. You asked us for your opinion and we gave it to you, here are the cliff notes DO NOT BUY THAT CAR, IT IS A BAD DEAL!!!!
For just a little more you could get a running Z with decent mileage. And yes i know the title doesnt say salvaged but that is a stupid amount of money to pay for a car like that in its condition.

yup - I've done it no less than FOUR TIMES with success
Civics are such a great market that you can buy them from people who have no idea how good the resale value is, and then sell it for basically as much as you spent on it
Civic DX Hatch - lost a few hundred selling it to Slava's friend
Civic EX Coupe - made $1000 selling it
Civic DX Hatch modded from eBay - made $500 selling it to Nina's brother
Civic DX Coupe with GS-R swap - made $600 selling it to some local kid
Yeah and then you are driving an old beat up Civic that bounces down the road like tennis ball.
None of my Civics were beat up and only one of them bounced down the road like a tennis ball (the one with coilovers that were a tad too aggressive for my purposes) They were old but they were all clean.

i just bought a certified 03 Z 6spd.
and i'm getting a new tranny under warranty.
if i didn't have the certified warranty, it will cost me $3500 to fix it.
and my friend has changed his vq35 engine twice already in his g35 coupe. less than 100k miles. he got tranny replaced once as well.
remember, nissan parts are more expensive than toyota.
and nissan especially Z isn't cheap to fix.
you can buy the Z. it's totally up to you.
Enjoy it as long as it runs.
but when it doesn't move, you gotta work extra time.
i mean it. extra extra hours of work to get it fixed only.
if u are rich, i guess i wasted your time reading my reply.
oh btw, it's not just $5 buck extra per fill up.
i pay $15 more for my Z compare to my celi per fill up.
