Before pulling out of a parking spot on the streets, I looked in both my rear and side view mirror for traffice. I saw nothing so pulled out. I was hit my a Nissan Altima dead smack on my driver side. The damage are as follows:
Driver side front fender is dented serverly, Kaminari bumper most likely needs to be replaced, front axel broken, one of my ADR wheels simply shattered, hood is ****ed up, and the driver side head light assembly may be caput also. Hopefully my HID kit on that side is ok. I'll put some pics up tommorrow after I visit the place the car was towed to. The guy driving the altima freaked out and fainted; and taken away by an ambulance. I was later told he just had triple bypass heart surgery. I hope his ok. The last thing I want on my conscience is someone passing away due to an accident caused by me. I'll call his family tomorrow to find out if he's ok. I got away with nothing more than slight back pain.
MUDERER lol j/k
I will keep him in my prayers, Keep us updated:wiggle:

Man, that sounds bad, both the guy who you got in the accident with and what happened to your car. Hope that back pain of yours goes away.

The salesman I bought my `02 Celica from is an old friend and a former truck driver.
Before pulling out of the dealer`s lot, I carefully adjusted my mirrors.
During the test drive I commented about the blind spot I had heard about and how it didn`t seen to be a real problem if the mirrors are adjusted properly. My friend agreed as he used to be a pro driver using only the side mirrors.
When mirrors are adjusted properly, you should be able to see anything behind you either in you rearview or side mirrors. I find this to be the case with the 7th gen celicas.
One common problem people have when adjusting the driver`s side mirror is that they tend to angle them too close to the the body of the car and too high.
Peoperly adjusted, before you loose a vehicle that`s passing you in your rearview, you should begin to capture it in your side view.

You know, you could go to target and get one of those little angled mirrors to stick on your driver side mirror. works like a charm; mine came with the car which I purchased lightly used.

I am not familiar with your blind spots. Mine is the exact oppoiste.
My side mirrors show me everything, however, if I look to the side, over the shoulders, and to the back without looking at the side mirrors, I find a car next to me.
To be helpful, someone should make a guidline as to how to adjust the mirrors so it rids of the blind spot.
Easy to adjust...just adjust them to the point where you DO NOT see your car in the mirror...
Most people that have problems with the mirrors tend to angle them in a way where 1/3 of your car is showing when you look into the mirrors....thats a no no. Once you cant see your side panels in the mirrors...you pretty much have your bases covered...unless someone here wants to prove me wrong. :)

That is correct! :)
I`ll just add that people also tend to adjust them too high.

Actually, there is a recommended way to adjust your mirrors. Most people aren't used to it, and don't like it, and it may also vary a little between different cars.
For the driver's side, rest your head against the window and adjust the mirror until you can just see the side of the car in the edge of the mirror.
For the passenger's side, so the same except lean over until your head is right in the middle of the car. Adjust the mirror the same way.
Most likely, you won't like the new adjustments, so make sure to give yourself time to get used to it. You'll notice on the road that you can now see much more of the lane next to you than you used to, but you can't see your own car. Most people need to see their car in the mirror as a reference point.

Mirrors or not. Commonly because of the way the DMV trains us we look over our shoulders.
i don't feel that the celica has a blind spot..i guess it is the way i drive
