If I take it a little past 4k RPMs a few times, when should I get my oil change?

I got my first oil change at 1000 miles. Didn't hit lift till after 1000 miles.

hey akuma, how would I know if I messed up my engine. Careless as I am I go up to 5k several times, I'll try not to do that again. And I heard that its stated in the manual I shouldn't go more than 55mph during break-in, I've been going 60-75mph, is that ok? Sorry, but I'm real paranoid now. I'm at 908 miles. I'll get an oil change at 1000 miles.

Just glad I got my 00 used.. haha. There is NO WAY i could get this car and wait 500-1000 miles before hitting lift.. I hit lift leaving the dealership and getting on the HWY the day I got it, 8k was calling my name. I am sure plenty folks here can relate.
Wish you the best luck staying below 4k or whatever the dealer tells you to do haha. 4k...sure buddy!

the only way i know that you could hurt your engine that early, is a mis-shift...
the first day i got mine, i had to take the highway back, so i was bouncing between 65-75mph (in 6th)on the highway, and no problems. just get you oil changed at 1000miles. i have heard of some people that didnt wait, no real problems, but it could cost the later life of the engine... just take it easy until then, and then have fun. i also notice that the car start feeling better after and extra 1000-2000miles also, i guess its just the engine sealing up and break in.
