I haven't heard anything wrong with the Mazda MZI motor as of yet. As long as Mazda keeps close to their "fun-ness" I'll be happy.

Looks Camryish...
It'll never be as fun as the 3 - people who buy the 6 are out of their mind.

I wasn't aware that SH-AWD with active yaw control had any serious problems
Approved. :thumbup:
Sleek and simple. However I did like the 6's headlights, they looked crazy at night. I just hope they come up with a better design for the rear end. The current gen looks like they spent too much time coming up with a front fascia that says, "remember me," and just shot darts at a bulletin board full of different tail light and trunk designs.

I personally like the current body style better. That one looks like a blown up version of a Mazda3, but every Mazda6 I have ever seen has always been pretty nice. I love my friends Mazda6 with all of the red interior lights they have in the car, it looks really good at night, and also has plenty of power.
The Mazda6 is a good mix of sport and luxury. But I still like the BMW 3-series better :D (328i and up :drool: ) , that is if you can afford it.... which I can't which is why I guess I am driving a GT-S celica

The specifications are for European models, but the only major addition for U.S.-spec cars will be the option of a 3.5L V6 in addition to the base four-cylinder. The only official details we have so far is that the new car will weigh less than the outgoing model and will use less fuel and emit fewer CO2 emissions to boot. We'll bring you all the official details of the new Mazda6 when arrive in Frankfurt next week.
That's it for now.

[QUOTE]Bigger, Stronger and the Most Fun You Can Have in a Family Sedan
First Impressions:
With most of its major flaws fixed, the 2009 Mazda 6 is easily one of the most impressive sedans in the midsize class.
* 3.7-liter V6
* 272 hp; 269 lb-ft of torque
* Standard stability control
* Bluetooth connection for phone and audio
Make It Bigger
Unlike the current-generation model, the 2009 Mazda 6 that goes on sale here later this summer is unique to North America. And like so many things that are uniquely American, the 2009 Mazda 6 is bigger in almost every dimension than its European and Japanese counterparts.
At 193.7 inches long and 72.4 inches wide, the 2009 Mazda 6 is larger than a Toyota Camry, yet smaller than a Honda Accord. The Mazda's 109.8-inch wheelbase is within an inch of the Nissan Altima and considerably shorter than both the Accord and the Chevrolet Malibu.
All those extra inches add up to a far more spacious interior than the current model. The Mazda 6 now gives rear passengers more leg-, shoulder and hiproom than the Accord, Altima and Malibu. Only the Toyota Camry offers more room in back and it's not by much.
Add Some Power
Super-sizing the Mazda 6 means more weight, of course. In this case, the Mazda 6 with the four-cylinder engine packs an extra 141 pounds, while the V6 model adds 169 pounds. That adds up to 3,547 pounds with the V6 in place
wow - its ****ing huge - 190+" and 3500 lbs

Trying To Make Everybody Happy
$30,690
What Works:
Attractive, modern style; roomy interior; generous appointments; nicely integrated chassis.
What Needs Work:
Noisy ride on concrete; overly light control feel; some torque steer.
Bottom Line:
Manages to keep some of the zoom-zoom athleticism despite pandering to the Accord/Camry market
* 272-hp 3.7-liter V6
* 0-60 mph in 6.4 seconds
* 25 mpg EPA-rated highway
* Regular gas
The new 6 should nibble away some of the Cam/Cord sales. I don't see why not.
lift!!!
08-16-2008, 09:40 PM
you cant get a proper manual transmission with the v6 were is the zoom zoom in a auto?!? o well the cx-7 is still fun to throw around and you can upgrade the turbo :)
I saw a black one on the freeway the other day; disgusting.
The previous Atenza had a very nice front fascia with a rear that looked half-assed. Now the new Atenza has a nice rear fascia and a poorly designed front.
Mazda's current "happy face" style is gay.

Update!
2011 Mazda6 - Face-lift, gets New 2.0-Liter Engine with Direct Injection
FULL STORY (http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2010/01/2011-mazda6-atenza-facelift-officially.html)
Underneath the hood, as expected, Mazda fitted the Japanese '6 with its newly developed 2.0-liter DISI gasoline engine with direct injection.
Mazda did not disclose any details, but we gather that it's the same unit found on the new Mazda5 MPV that will have its debut at the Geneva Show in March.
The Japanese automaker said that it has also tweaked the Atenza's power steering and suspension settings improving the car's handling and straight-line stability at high speeds as well the ride quality.
