JUST pulled it from my mailbox, page 112: Hotchkis Performance, Toyota Motorsports, SCC Project Celica (final appearance?!), and stock. Reading now - feedback?

Otherwise, this is a comparo of GT-S' with little drivetrain mod. Exhaust, intake are really it. Everything else is safety and suspension (including an LSD on Hotchkiss' entry).

For the fuel-cutoff fans, it is noted that the stock GT-S (2002) and the Hotchkiss car "had the new recalibrated ECU with lower rpm fuel cutoff. This, of course, hurts acceleration."

Mod-ed Celicas broke SCC records for braking and slalom. The Hotchkiss Celica was within .01g of breaking the skidpad record as well. The Hotchkiss Celica beat last month's Mitsu EVO VII tested last month at the same track by nearly a second per lap.

"After this test we're convinced Toyota's 2ZZ-GE is the best sounding four-cylinder engine in production. Banging off downshifts in this car couldn't be any more reqarding. Its brakes held up on the track and its combination of balance and grip was substantial."

"The numbers are staggering - certainly more than we expect from cars with stock power."

Can't wait to read that article. Now if only our engines kept up with our suspension and brakes, we'd be in business. I don't give a damn how good the 2zz "sounds", it needs more hp NOW! So does the 1zz.:burnout:

This sounds very impressive. Now I wonder what members of the aftermarket are watching.

Congrats Hotchkis! Now you just need to start having 50% sales and you'll be dominating the Celica world! ;)

The modded cars sound really impressive! Where are all the people who scream about SCC being Honda biased now?

You're thinking of Super Street and Import Tuner...at least SCC SOMETIMES features cars that AREN'T Honduh...

Yeah, that's the reason why I cancelled my subscriptions with Super Street and Import Tuner, I was getting a little sick of articles on how to (fill in the blank) a 19XX Honda (fill in the blank).

One day I was at the pharmacy and saw the SCC that featured the Matrix when they were getting started with it, and since then I've been an SCC nut, along with MotorTrend.

Im gonna buy 3 of them ... 1 to send to my father (now a BIG celica nut) one to show and brag about at work ... and one just for keeps. =-) LET THE RUBBING IN THE FACE BEGIN..... Let the aftermarket manufactuers open there eyes and truely see what this car is cappable of.
I hope SCC also yells at toyota now for lying to them in the first place with the whole "glitch " isssue:angry:

its gonna be a week or 2 before its in the stores.... subscription people always get their issues really early. My subscription ran out last month... :( (did'nt resubscribe because a resubscription costs 5 bucks more than a new subscription!!! and I am moving in a month. )

i think this is good to show the celica needs more performance parts.
this shows company's out there that there is potential for this car.
i cant believe it beat out a evo on the same track by over a second EVERY lap.
that car runs mid to low 13's right?
company's will step up now i think!!!

Yah, mine ran out a month or so ago...I just went up to a bookstore yesterday and got the July issue with the turbo Matrix...that figures that I can't get the good one(August) for another week or so! :wtf:

I got my copy yesterday, very interesting article. Very impressive numbers.

Lets see if this changes anyone's mind about bailing on the Celica. There seems to have been a lot of people lately talking about getting rid of the Celica.

We need to start harassing companies again... and sending a link to this article.

It doesn't matter if this was featured..... somehow we manage to get overlooked. The funny thing is, when they have an "RSX shootout"...... there's a pic on the cover. I'd say that honda still rules..... but we have to do something about it.... .

Actually, back when the Celica first debut'd, SCC had a red GT-S on the cover and a pretty big feature on it. I pulled it out and read it last wek for kicks. They went on and on about how the Celica will be the Integra's nemesis...:gap:
